He was ejected. I thought their was a mandatory seatbelt law in Illnois. Ops. Do as I say not as I do. A real loss for the family that might have been prevented had he followed the law that he most likely had issued tickets to citizens for not obeying. Even though I oppose the seat belt law I always wear one.

These high speed chases always end up with a wreck and usually someone dieing.Don't these police know what the police radio is for?Is it so degrading to call for backup or that someone gets away with $100.00 of fuel?More than likely the culprit will be back in town the next day or so.
Our law makers are always making law to control the public why not enact one to stop these stupid high speed chases. We all know by now that police are not trained to drive over the speed limit. And 95% of them can't shot their weapon and hit their intended target.

I can't believe all you a-holes blaming the victim here. Have a little compassion for the family of a man who died in the line of duty. Maybe to you it was senseless and he "should've done this, should've done that" but at the end of the day, he died doing what he thought was best. Meanwhile, you're cowardly commenting annonymously on a website, who's the better man here?

How about we support our police for a change instead of tearing them down all the time. MY thoughts are prayers are with this community and family. Where are yours?

When they stop ordering people around and thinking when they say jump you should say how high sir, when they stop driving like A-Holes both on and OFF duty, when they start respecting the people who pay their salary, when they drop the tuff guy attitude then, and only then will they get our support.

To Dave--He was wearing his seat belt. The impact split it in two. To an ole fool--He was not the only one involved in the chase. There were several area officers there. The chase was halted after Officer Hubbard's crash. All of you--Please be respectful of his wife and children even if you don't respect police officers.

so they ALL act like that huh? So I guess ALL men cheat, ALL women can't drive, ALL blacks steal, ALL whites do meth, ALL muslims are terrorist.........do you get how stupid you sound yet?
What do you do? I curious
I'm an engineer Why? And no they don't ALL and I never said ALL, but enough that the expectation is, that is what you are going to get, and many of the groups you listed are the same way. In no case is it ALL for almost anything, but if the overwhelming propensity is that you can expect a certain behavior then that is where we start and we can be proven wrong. If your car doesn't start 9 out of 10 times, then when you go outside you just figure it aint gonna, if it does well then that is nice isn't it. Stereo types don't come from nowhere, they are built by experiences, and my experience has been bad, I'm 45 years old and so mine is no small sampling. My overwhelming experience has been that cops are jerks. I can only think of ONE in all those years who wasn't a real jerk, and he was a great man (God rest his soul). He went into a house one time with a man with a gun. First thing he did was take off his holster and put it and his riot gun in the trunk of the squad car. said " I already have one gun (the other guy's) to keep track of I don't need any more. He talked to the guy, and unlike the cops I have seen when the guy surrendered he didn't drop him to the floor and jump on him, he walked him outside put him in the front seat and took him in. Treated him like a human. All I have seen is cops ordering and telling people what to do like they should just jump at the almighty order of a cop. things have gone downhill since the days of the guy I mentioned.

The victim here is the rookie who was along for the ride and got hurt because of this guy. The dead cop died at his own hands, you can't call him a victim.

Thx Mom of 2. You may or may not agree with what I say but thanks for your support. As long as you don't spew profanity or threaten people we can all speak.
Although last time I checked it almost wasn't the USA anymore.
