Isn't that just wonderful? All this free help and you don't even have to learn any English. For all of those that think these folk are harmless and helping the economey your being suckered! They send every dime back to Mexico while they suck the county, federal,& state social services dry. Soon one day they can leave the labor market here in shambles and return home to live like kings from the U.S.dollars. Oh but this doesn't include the Mexican drug gangs who also live around Metter that will cut your throat for 10 paso's and some crack. Our public servants are asleep at the wheel while this invasion is taking place in Southeast Georgia.

Metter is full of drugs and fat whore chasing cops/deputies that don't care to do anything about it. Unless you are related to the sheriff or friends or sell drugs for him you don't stand a fair chance at any help from him or his staff. I hope the next three years go by fast and we can have a chance to vote for someone who will make a change in this county. Change is what is needed in Metter!

You are so right, as someone who is from the Metter, Stillmore area and now lives in a border city in Texas, I can atest to the corruption that is going on. As a federal officer, I can truly say watch yourselfs back home. Most people are blind to what's going on!

I love Metter. I have been here a year and a half. Yes, the Bilo prices are high and it's pretty much a crappy grocery store, but it's a small town. As someone who has lived all over, including overseas, it's true that any small town you go to, you are going to pay more for things. It's basic supply and demand. But, I have never been in a place where people cared about each other as much as they do here. Someone mentioned people here giving you the shirt off your back if you needed it. It's the truth! I've heard a lot about the people who are "From Metter" and won't speak to you, but I have friends who have been here a few years and friends that were born here. They all seem very accepting and friendly. I am originally from Savannah, and we wanted to raise our kids in a nice area close to home. We picked Metter for it's school district as well, and we have had the best teachers the past two years. They really care about the kids. I love how everyone comes out for the little guys football games at the rec center and the local parades. It's such a great community.
That being said - I would like to see some lower prices on things and more business - and how about a decent restaurant!! I would like to open a business here, but the rents are just too high. But - like some other people said, the best thing to do to improve things is to get involved. The immigration problem is everywhere, but we don't need to punish the working people who are here. The laws need to crack down on their employers. In this terrible economy, there are plenty of people ready to work for less. Same goes for drugs. That is completely a personal choice - and they are everywhere. It's easy enough NOT to do them, wherever you live.

Forget it there will never be more business or lower prices in Metter. There will never be a new grocery--just ask anyone. Until all the "old money" crowd is gone Metter will always be like it was and ruled by just a few. The good thing is some of the "old money" crowd doesn't have that old money anymore or not so much of it the problem is they just still act like they do. Crime is on the rise in Metter and Candler County and no one is doing a thing to stop it. Drugs flow like water. Property taxes are out of hand.

A lot of people keep talking about the law enforcement here in Metter and for the most part, they are right. Metter is in need of young blood that will take on the task of bringing law enforcement back to the streets.

There is a young man that was born, lives and is one of the finest young men that Metter ever produced, bidden his time to become our next Sheriff. Given the chance, he would make a huge different in law enforcement here in Metter. And I predict that in the next election, he will win the Sheriffs election. Help is on its way but we have got to go thru the remaining term of our current Sheriff. "LORD, PLEASE BE WITH US".

that's just life there is not one town in the USA that don't have crack heads coke heads ect.... That's just part of modern like these days so the best thing u can do is stop peeping out your window watching it and continue with your life because your sheriff is a drug dealer too just ask around I know for fact

Here is a solution bc I agree with everyone metter needs change! A lot of change, but it will never change unless we change it. It is up to us, the citizens too make a difference. I want my kids to grow up in a small town with a good education away from the big city life.

I agree. Metter needs some serious improvements. I've got a drug dealer living on my street and he's dealing with SOME of the Sheriff's deputies.
