How do you know Gricar isn't the hero in all of this? He may have paid with his life! The story goes he wouldn't bring charges on Sandusky. So that's what his boss told him to say and do, right? And that's what happened. But, who was his boss? It was Tom Corbett. Now, maybe Gricar couldn't keep it quiet any longer and threatened Corbett with exposure. Just play it through in your mind, you'll see what I'm saying.

Gricar was paid off, he never worked for Tom Corbett but I suspect the AG or his friends were directing the payoffs. Gricar had long discussed an interest in the disapperance of Hinckley, Ohio police cheif John Wiley many decades ago. The chief was well known for his love of the city of San Francisco from his military service which has led some to suspect he was homo/bisexual which has also been suggested of Gricar. Both were undergoing marital troubles and had reasons to leave. Gricar is on record showing interest in this case. Combine that with Gricar's need for money and you can see how he would have made a deal with Corbett to go away in exchange for cash, killing him means there would need to be a body and suicide would have produced a body as well. Gricar was also driven to destroy whatever information existed on his laptop which likely included enough evidence to get rid of Sandusky, though I cannot figure out why he did not prosecute in 1998 as he had a taped confession. Corbett was no longer AG at the time (1995-1997, 2003-2011).

Gricar is no hero.If he had ,back up imformation would have been found at death in a safety depoist box, court house or friend. Many
knew about this. The time hours for Campus Police working under cover, pay stubs and daily reports on time used should be sought out. They sat near entry crossways reporting suspects.Tom King says nothing was reported to the town police and the court house has no known imformation.A real hero reacts on the call for help, they do not wait until later. If Gricar was anything he was both a fool and a coward for not taking action when needed. My he burn in HELL !!!

My theory is he was threatened by Att. Gen. Tom Corbett. That's why he went along and kept quiet for a while. But then maybe his conscience got the better of him and he threatened Corbett back with exposure of the cover-up. Why else would he "disappear"? Publicly, Gricar did what he was told to do by Corbett. But the arguments behind the scene is what got him killed.

Gricar was planning to disappear, that is why he searched how to destroy the hard drive. He didn't want anyone to find out where he was going (Slovenia has been suggested because he has relatives there) and what he was covering up. He figured to leave it to his sucessor who passed the buck to Corbett who gave it to his sucessor.

I believe he set up his own disappearance. He asked his colleagues and googled how to destroy the hard drive. He only had a joint account with his daughter with only $100,000. It was strange that someone with his income had no investment accounts. The car was in his girlfriend's name. He set it up this way so it was easy for his family members to take over. As a meticulous DA, he should have left explanations why he didn't bring charges to Sandusky, but he didn't. It was very fishy.

I have to agree that Gricar acted carefully and deliberately. I don't see any signs that he was terrified or panicked. If you accept that Corbett was basically the candidate from the Second Mile you can imagine Corbett being a big influence in Gricar's decision to disappear. I would guess money changed hands and I am sure that would make Corbett a criminal if it can be proven that he participated in Gricar's stunt. I believe Gricar is in that eastern European country that his family has ties to. A private detective could find him but no one with money or power wants him to be found.

There was no "decision to disappear". This is not 1972 anymore, you can't disappear. With the internet and Gricar's high profile life, it would be next to impossible for him to disappear. He was whacked for wanting to do the right thing about Sandusky. Sandusky's Second Mile Charity generated millions for dirty PA officials. You can bet the Attorney General(Corbett), Judges, DAs, Law enforcement, even social workers were paid off to buy immunity for Sandusky. What else explains the inaction on the case since at least 1998? Doesn't look like a Penn State/Joe Pa issue at all. It looks very much like a mafia-like corrupt PA state government that even went as far as framing innocents at PSU to get the public off the trail.

Can't you see the reason he did nothing? He was threatened, he wanted to do the right thing. And it got him killed. He disappeared in the middle of a struggle with his conscience. He probably told whoever wanted Sandusky left untouched that he would not abide.
