I generally have a rule, do not go to a restaurant just after grand opening. I usually wait for a few months for them to get their act together. After a few months (after grand opening) I went to Dennys in Centereach with my co-workers for breakfast. We arrive around 745am, we placed our order at 5 to 8. We waited from 5 to 8 to 830 to get our breakfast, and the restaurant was not crowded. Coffee was never hot, food came out late, and the temperture was cold. We called over the manger and told him what was happening, and he said that he was watching our server and knew about us waiting toooooooooooooo long for food. After telling us that, we all thought that he should been doing his job to keep his customers happy. After waiting 40min for food, the manger appoligized and said that he will make us a new breakfast. We all got up and walked out. Very disappionted, always loved Dennys, just not the one at Centereach LI NY. I have only heard bad stories about this Dennys, somebody better step in and fire these people because it is giving Dennys a bad reputation. Its just a matter of time

I worked at Denny's in Omaha for years. No way is it supposed to be like this! I think maybe the problem could be that it's very hard work--and many of these young people today are lazy and don't care about customer service. I served my customers like their slave would--and it was worth it--made lots of tips and had much job satisfaction. I made lots of new friends at this job--and had a blast. It was like a big family. It can be a fun job and a fun career--but it's all in the attitude--and this country is now full of lazy slackers. You have to blame the management for this, but why the hell should the manager care--he's making bigger bucks--but he's supposed to step in when a server is slammed or is new to make sure that customers are satisfied--even if it means serving them himself. However, he gets his pay, no matter what. What's unfortunate is that this restaurant might not make the sales and may have to close down soon. It's too bad, because I was thinking of applying for a job there. I miss working at Denny's, and I was really psyched to see that one had opened on Long Island. Maybe if you come in this summer, I'll wait on you and you'll have a better experience. This type of thing should never happen at Denny's and I'm disgusted because so many of us old timers put in many hours and much elbow grease to make the company a success. There's no loyalty these days, and it's a shame because I have to say that Denny's was the one job where the managers and supervisors actually treated me like they appreciated my service to them, and they respected me.

I have to say when we first moved out here I was all excited when I saw a Dennys on Middle Country but it was an auto body shop. Then they opened the real Dennys and I guess because I waited so long for it I was more disappointed with my first trip I went in April shortly after they opened. We waited over an hour to be seated and it was empty! After being seated it took them 30 minutes just to take our drink order. Another hour and we had our food each of us we were 5 in our group had something missing from our order.
Went back last week thinking it had to have gotten better lets give them another try. The only thing that got better was that they seated us right away. The waitress had no idea she had our table then the server came our with the food and gave it to another table. Needless to say we have been to Dennys in PA and loved it each time. I will not be returning to this Dennys.
The owner needs to sit and watch what goes on and why he/she won't be making money after a short period and why they will be closing.

Service was terrible, three of the 5 orders were missing something, got one cup of coffee a half hour before food came asked for a 2nd cup when food finally came and never got it and when waitress brought the check told her and she didn't even appoligize or showed she cared. Two thumb down for this Denny's.

, I have to say that anyone who would wait 1 hour to be seated in any restaurant needs to have their head examined. Than wait another hour for your food? Makes no sense to me at all, what makes less sense is that you went back for more.

I've always loved Denny's out of state and was so exicited to see we were getting one in Centereach. However, after visiting Denny's maybe 5 times, won't be returning. The food is cold, never correct order and corn in my friends Mashed potatoes. When you tell the manager, apology and that's it. I felt it would get better after awhile, but it seems to have gotten worse. Their everyday soup, which is delicious, wasn't to be had on my last visit? No apology, just we don't have any, then why is it on the menu as everyday chicken soup. Hope I hear it has improved as I do enjoy the food, when it's hot and served correctly.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. I have been to the Denny's in Centereach 3 times. After the first bad experience I chalked it up to a one time thing. I was wrong. The last (and I mean last) time we went there was yesterday. The food is nasty (my daughter's "Kid's Pizza" was mushy and obviously microwaved. The rest of the food is lukewarm and just not tasty). We waited forever once we were seated, and of course something was missing from my order. There is an IHOP nearby and I love it; have never been disappointed. That is the restaurant that will be getting my business from now on.

What a dissapointment! Waited for them to open up. It was crowded so I phoned in take out. When I picked it up and took it home the food was ice cold and I had to re-heat it. I originally complained to the restaurant and called and they did nothing. The quality was terrible and I contacted Denny's main office to complain and they did nothing for me. They wrote me an e-mail and dismissed it. If that is how the customer service is in this economy of competition I will eat someplace else!!!!! Sad for the long wait but, will never go back. Save your money and eat some place else.
