<quoted text>The FIRST page of the letter does plainly state that white children will not be allowed to transfer DUE TO the present provisions issued in the federal Richland Parish School desegregation case. The SECOND page of the letter also states that the lowest achieving students on free/reduced lunch will receive priority in Section 1116 transfers.
I have served as a sub in Rayville elementary. And you can rest assured that there are white children who fit that description as well as black children. So it is not simply about transferring black students out. Common sense should prevail in this situation. And as far as the comment that Holly Ridge would be better off, so was Eula D. Britton.
The black community was better off with desegration. White people did not want us to use their facilities, so guess what. We created our own. We took care of our own children. In my honest opinion, we were better off with desegration than we are now. We had our own schools, teachers, businesses, transportation system, and numerous other things. Black teachers cared for our Black students. There was not any hidden racism.
It amazes me how you feel that Holly Ridge and Start would be better off without the black students, but you can't keep your children away from our black children. There are several of your precious little white children who act more ghetto than my own black children. There are several of you precious little white girls who love our black men more than I do.
And this is coming from an EDUCATED black woman that attended RES, RJH, and RHS. Oh, and I graduated in the top 5% of my class. Also went to college and graduated from there as well. And I am so sick and tired of people getting on the forums and acting like the problem is always a black/white thing.
These teachers need help. These students need to be taught at home as well as at school. There needs to be after school programs for these kids. You make sure they get to baseball, football, basktetball, and cheerleading practice. These same parents need to get together and make sure that homework is done and they studied for the test, regardless of color or income.
Everytime Rayville is in the news it is for something negative.
These children shouldn't be allowed to play sports if they are failing. Have you ever heard of maintaining a certain GPA to participate.

I think they should just try to fix what is broken with the Rayville school system. Do a total replacement of faculty that should fix the problem but that will NEVER happen! Rayville is too much about ,Who you are in the community. They could Never piss off that many Adults to help the children. Oh lord No ! It must be the children's faults that they are not learning ? Right ? I mean aren't they supposed to teach themselves? I'm sure thats what makes Start and Holly Ridge schools better, the kids are just smarter !! Give me a break So many people want to blame things on children , when it is clearly a teacher / faculty issue ! I mean really people?? Grow the Hell up and Grow a pair and stand up for the children !!
The Faculty shouldn't get ALL of the blame. Having been in the school system and having children of my own, I know that some children purposely play abcd games with their tests because they are too lazy to study!

our kids are being punished for being white. It is not right to keep our kids in a failing school but not vice versa. The Federal Law is so outdated. We need to find out how to update this. This is called reverse discrimation. This is so racial. I do not consider myself a racist, but the way the laws are, they are fast making me racist. I do have a grandchild in the Rayville Elementary School, so I do know what goes on there. It was so bad for him last year. It makes me think that there is no hope for him to get the education he needs. He will be so far behind. At this rate he will never be able to learn enough to go to college.
Racism breeds trouble for the racist as well as heartship for it victims. A lawsuit was filed years ago because several blacks were denied the opportunity to become principals because of their race. Well the federal government settled this case by placing the Richland parish school board under a decree that resulted in the present day problems for white students. Every American should be active against racism. I'm not advocating mixing the races, but I am advocating the pursuit of happiness and prosperity for all AMERICANS.

By the way, get the facts, I personally know the 3 men who filed the lawsuit, and one is Althan Smith the President of the Richland Parish Police Jury.

I'm glad none of my grandchildren are in richland parish school district.they did not help my daughter when she was in school. I had 2 teachers tell me she didn't have to learn how to spell.she had adhd none of them wanted or could not deal with it.I Didn't think none of them deserved a raise then looks like nothing changed.that was in the late 80&early 90.

n July of last year Catherine allowed her son to have adultry with another married woman he met in AA. Both parties were still living at home with their families. She allowed them to use her house for nights over, took them out for dinner, ect. Her son had a child at home and another on the way. The other woman had 2 children at home. How can we allow a person to run our children's future when she destroyed 4 children's homes, 2 of wich were her own grand kids. She is a selfish woman who will only look out for her personal gains. Is this really the type of morals and discuss we want her to bring to our parish?
Catherine hasn't worked for Richland Parish in three years. She is a grown woman and as long as what your are talking about does not involve minors, it is no one else's business what goes on at her house. If what your saying is a false accusation to try and make someone look bad.. shame on you.
