So learn from him, and please do what decent people do--have some respect for his friends and family. Honestly.

If he had his seatbelt on, chances are we wouldn't have to call him stupid because he might not have been killed.

Think about it...

Then again, maybe it was his time to go. My sister was killed as a result of the seatbelt. Things happen... why do people always want to lay blame? And to refer to someone or something they have done as "stupid", especially something as debatable as wearing a seatbelt, when they are no longer on this earth is simply callous...

Calling a dead man stupid? How grown up is that? For god's sake can't people act like adults? A man lost his life, people lost a friend/family member. Is this what the world is really coming to? A life is lost and all people can do is post on an internet blog about how stupid he is/was?????????? Show some respect and compassion people!!!!!!!!!! A human life was lost!!!!!!!!!!

You don't know this man. We do. He was not one to travel without his seatbealt being fastened. The possibility that he might have been having an attack at the time and was trying to loosen things up around him has occurred to us. Don't just jump in judging when you don't know the whole story. He was a good man and will be missed by this community. My respects to the family.

did they find out what caused it yet??
that part of the highway is under construction right now and it's not nice conditions anyway.
(two way traffic can get kind of distracting)
I know people go way faster than they are supposed to be going (construction speed limit) there as well.
My heart goes out to those who loved and needed this man. May your heart know he is in a much happier place now and watching you from above.

The benefits of wearing a seatbelt are NOT debatable.

I agree. Although I do not know the whole story with this case, a seatbelt DID save my life. It shattered my pelvis and broke most of the ribs on my left side BUT I lived through the crash. So I would think that seatbelts save more lives than they take. But my heart goes out to this family, I read the earlier post about it being odd that he had no belt on. So sorry for your loss.

Maybe not to you, but your sister isn't the one who was killed by hers. Mine is. I personally choose to wear mine, but my other sister refuses. Furthermore, it's a FACT that there has been much DEBATE on the issue of seatbelts and as to whether or not the state should force us to wear them.

I beg to differ. After being trapped in a seatbelt in a burning car as I child, I am scared to death to wear one. I do, because it's the law, but if it wasn't, I surely wouldn't be putting one on. It was a very close call, luckily a very brave man, but my belt at the very last second. A family member of mine died at the young age of 20. He had his seatbelt on, but didn't help him. I'm sure there are many cases where a seatbelt has hindered and caused deaths, but surely those statistics will not be posted anywhere. The point here is...doesn't matter if he was wearing his seatbelt or not, that's not the issue. The issue is a man has lost his life, family will now suffer from this tragedy. After losing a family member, not knowing the why's and what if's are the very worst for a family to wonder. Believe me, they are asking themselves many why's and what if's themselves. Please just pray for the family and friends of this man.

He was NOT stupid. That first comment is so far from the truth!
He was a WONDERFUL, friendly, out going person with the best laugh!
His friends in our community are suffering the loss of such a creative, kind person.

As the family memeber of the man that lost his life in this accident, I am very sad and dissapointed that someone would be go so far as to blame someone for making a mistake that killed them. I wont waste my time trying to explain anything to you, but maybe before you start saying things you don't mean, you should think first. And thanks to Shelly.

Think about it...
HELLO..
I know seatbelts save lives, I wear mine, even knowing what I am abou t to say.
My grandfather was in a terrible car accident years ago.
they told him, IF he was wearing his seatbelt, he would NOT have survived the crash.
I am not stupid, I know those are rare cases, but it dose happen.
Have a good day...:)

Prayers to the family and friends....
