Yeah it is true, when my daughter was in Middle School, if she dropped level's then she lost privileges!

That is so crazy why would they do that those kids can't be perfect all the time I guess it's time to look into taking mine to another school district that is so wrong on all levels to deny a child field trips and dances

Sounds like your kid might be a little troublemaker and you take up for it. I think this level system is great. It makes the kids want to behave and learn. THey like to socialize and want to take trips to get out of school so they behave. Not only that it keeps them from causing so much trouble that the other kids can learn too. I haven't been at the middle school since Mrs. Rose left but she was fair and had high expectations from her kids and her staff including the subs... I am sure the current principal is too.

You must work there then because they are the worst of the 3 schools in the system. They wanted us to pay 100 up front for the 8th grade trip and then another 100 before they go. I wouldn't have a problem at all except if my kid falls a level in their grade, they don't get the 100 deposit back and the others get to have fun on that money!! Whatever happened to EVERYBODY gets to go on the field trips. Most schools still do it that way. The middle school is the most prejudice in the whole system about playing favorites with kids too. They really need a turn around!!

Quit your bitching about the trip. It is that way in every school system. If they even take a trip. Most schools have done away with eighth grade trips. If you are so worried that your child can't behave themselves that long then don't pay the deposit and don't let them go. Take them on a nice little trip yourself this summer or over spring break to show how proud you are of them. I personally think all 8th and senior trips need to be done away with. I have felt this way back when I was in school. Reason being not every family can afford to pay for thier child's trip.

I agree with the parents who think it is unfair that their kids can't participate due to the stupid levels that the middle school uses. Whomever said that someone's kids must be a trouble maker if their level had dropped, has no clue. Their level can drop for different reason. I think it is crazy, if they work and earn the money or the parents pay for it, they should get to go. When My son was there, he worked and made almost $200 dollars, but he didn't wanna go on the trip, so he told them to give his money to someone else that wanted to go but couldn't afford it. Alot of kids sale the stuff, then at the last minute, they aren't allowed to go on the trip, yet, they have sold candy for the school and get nothing for their hard work. I too think that the trips should end. It isn't fair to the kids that don't have the money to pay. If the school can't pay for it, then don't let em have the trip. Do something special at the school for them. And yes, that middle school is the worst of the schools in this county. I don't care what anyone says. Most people I have talked to said the same thing as me, they couldn't wait for their child to get out of that school.

My child is in the 6th grade and she makes straight A's and a B on occasions. She let me know that if she gets 5 checks that she drops a level. If she makes a B on her report card she drops a level. I dont think that the level system is fair either. My child is not a troublemaker with the occasional taking in class or forgetting something that is needed for the class.
I feel that if the trips are paid for or if the child has worked very hard to sell the items that they should have another punishment for the children. Because I am sorry that I dont have the kind of money to give for my child to go much less to give and my child not get to go but to give it to someone else so they can go.

I think that if they sale items that should be put toward their trips.
If they want extra money to spend then yes that is the parents job to give to them not the school.

First of all you idiot I wasn't bitching I was stating a point and you must not know much because I know right off hand of 6 schools close to here that have an eight grade trip where everybody gets to go and they don't play favorites with the kids because of their grades. If your kid has a learning disability then they will never get to go with those stupid rules you like so much. Think before you speak you dumb ass.

Besides that it's just Dollywood this year anyway my kid gets to go there all the time anyways lol. But I agree with the other parents on here if they raise the money or have the money they should be allowed to go no matter what. You could be a kid that never gets in trouble but out of the blue a teacher or student pushes your button and you can't take it anymore and stick up for your self then you end up in detention...maybe even for the first time in the whole year....there goes your trip and where does your deposit go? Straight to Dollywood with the rest of the bunch. I bet you there is kids going on that trip that haven't paid a dime too. What a horrible outfit for a school.

Yes i bet if there "STAR" basketball player dropped a lever he or she would still be going. Sports suck in the school system cause those kids are the ones who get the pat on the back for scoring well in a game or something like that. I have heard to many horror tales already about this school and mine is supposed to go there next year but i think we might just take him to montgomery county till he graduates. Its a darn shame to pay the taxes we have to pay yet have to fight a school system for our kids to get an education. I think they should just put bars on the windows of the middle school and call it teenage jail....

Read the comments on here and you thingk the kids have a problem? What is that. These comments are reasonable comments. If a kid sales enough candy bars to make $200.00, then his trip is paid for. Yet, as parents we still have to provide spending money, and I don't have a problem with that. What I have a problem with is make kids feel like they don't deserve to go. Because some of the kids, are not as intelligent as some of the others, they can't stay in the higher level, so it is unfair for them. I applaud the kids that make great grades, but there are some really good kids, that can't make perfect grades and sell enough to go, yet they can't meet the level. This is why our children feel that there is always a difference made in the kids. Sherry, you must either not have kids, are a teacher, or have a "Perfect" child. Yet, there is no perfect child. Those are the kids alot that have more issues than the ones who make lower grades.

When I went to school there, the level system was if you made a's and b's you made level 6, all a's was level 7. If you got in trouble so many times you dropped a level. Everyone started on 5. You could drop levels by either getting in trouble too much or getting an f on your report card. They gave us different ways to make our level back. If we were on a certain level we didn't get our privilages. It's like taking away recess in elementary school. They do the same things in High school when you get wrote up so many times, there are consequences. It has probably changed some. With the trip, they have to pay deposits up front. If you pay for your child to go on a trip, it's non refundable, they tell you that. If you can't behave at school, why would they take you out of state for a couple nights? I wouldn't want to.
