Can anyone tell me what are the events for the Fair. I always try to attend one night, we like the greasy pig contest, and would like to know what night and time it is.

With the money poco fair brings in they should have a way better fair!!!!!!! The Stanton fair stinks...They charge 12 dollars for a band to ride and also so much to even park and what do the kids get?? " CHEAP RIDES" We went to winchester fair this year and it was great they only charged 8 dollars for bands and nothing to park, it was so neat and clean and so many thing for children to do... Stanton should be able to do the same but I'm sure like everything else and all the other money in poco that it is going up the board members nose or buying them what they want..

Not every Fair has a large attendance like Montgomery County and Clark County Fairs. Large attendance is how these Fairs get better rides and events for a better price. Everything has gone up from fuel to run the rides, insurance, price of ribbons, trophies and food, just to name a few. I attend the Montgomery County Fair every year but enjoy the Powell County Fair because it is what a County Fair is all about. I love their exhibits and events and appreciate the work of its members.

Have you taken a good look at Powell County lately? Maybe you have lived here so long that you no longer notice the nasty, trashy unsightly homes and trash lined highways.

What you see is what you’ve got. A trashy nasty redneck county that thrives on government handouts. And the drug problem here is unbelievable!

The county governments have nothing at all to do with the fair. If you have a complaint you'll have to take it to the lions club. They're the ones that own the land and organize it.

the fair board goes to louisville once a year and bookes rides at a convention....old fogies choose old fogie cheap rides. noting less nothing more. many of the owner of rides give the board members a kicks back for contracting them. no kickback then in a town like stanton so ride pure and simple.

I took my family to the fair last night. I would have to agree with the rides. They are a cheaper ride and they are more worn from surrounding counties. It's just a matter of time till the Rock O' Planes ride comes apart.
A few years back my nephew and cousin was on the ride (of course) that wasn't the name of it then. But it is the same ride. While they were on it they had flipped it so much that the bolt on the inside had come off and was tumbling around inside with them.
Last night I noticed that the operators of the ride had to keep tightening the bolt, but they didn't do it Everytime someone got off. Just when they noticed the ride would get stuck in certain positions.
God forbid anything to happen. But if it does then we won't have a POCO fair anymore. Because whoever it happens to will own the fair.
I'm just saying to be concern and if all go and complain and quit bringing our kids then they will have no other choice but to pick better rides.

I dk which heaven your from but nasty, trashy, and all the pill issues are everywhere its just more noticeable in our.small community! I don't use drugs, drink alcohol or even.smoke cigarettes as a matter of fact! I don't litter. Everyone knows someone with a drug problem no matter where your from. But you just set up on your high horse and keep thay nose in the air, people like you who judge always get payback. Seen it a lot people say my child will never be like that blah blah blah then their kid is the worst one! You honestly can't possibly be that closed minded to believe Powell county is worse than any other county in this state.

i use to work for b&m motorsports. we they host many of the motorsports at the fairs. The way it works is as follows. once a year there is a big fair convention in Louisville. Each county sends a fairboard or fairboard member. typically in the smaller counties. they will always go for the older rides and yes there is almost always a kickback. the counties that are less high profile really bring it on there self. the date powell county chooses is horrible, kids are back in school many parents have them back home from the fair at 9pm or sooner. this time of year many of the good rides have already contracted to be in texas or california. Powell county is home of the good o boy routein time again and again. you want better rides get some young blood on the fair board that have actually heard of something other than the scrambler. You can't blame the county or the citizens the fair and the rides rest on the back of very few people.

Attended the talent show on Monday night and was glad to see such a large turnout and so many contestants. The younger division had lots of good talent. As for the upper division, Cole Faulkner and Kayne Allen are very talented and probably deserved to win, but by doing a duet and then single acts they managed to win the top three places which I think is a little much. Think that they need to limit you to either one performance or at least you can only place once and give some of the other contestants a chance to place.
Just want to say to the little girl that sang the song from the "Phantom of the Opera", keep it up, you took on quite a challenging song and did a commendable job, especially considering your age. You have a future if you just keep practicing.

I must say I was not very happy with the fair rides this year. They only had 3 rides that my little girl could ride, it doesn't seem right to charge $10 for an armband when the kid can only go on 3 rides. But the look on her face and the excitement she had was worth it.
The people in charge of the fair should maybe consider getting some different rides and more for younger children. It isn't always the bigger kids who want to ride!
And what about the games?? I miss the old days when they had the 25 cent game and the dime toss. Or even the game to win pictures or goldfish.
