I think it is rediculous, that there are two cities in one county especially as small as PC is. Look at Clark county ....Winchester, Fayette Co. Lexington... as large as they are they have only one city....

I don't really know why we have 2 small cities. It holds us back more than it helps us.
As far as the 2 cities being divided and always bickering, talk to some of the older residents. The bad feelings apparently started when the court house was built in Stanton instead of Clay City, therefore, making Stanton the county seat. Our ancestors were childish too.

From what I have heard, at one time Clay City was the main town for Powell County, with logging... then there was a fire that destroyed most of the town... not really sure. and as far as the negative comments, this is by far better than who's the biggest ho, or who's cheatin on who in pc...at least i'm not in peoples business. and if you don't want in the conversation, don't post anything...

I think the Mason-Dixon Line runs through Glen Salyers' property, but I could be mistaken...

I think Powell County should be further divided into each individual communities: Rosslyn, Furnace, Knowlton, West Bend, Virden, Cane Creek, Cat Creek, Cow Creek, Hatchers Creek, Hardwicks Creek, Morris Creek, Paint Creek, Happy Top, Snow Creek, Black Creek,....you get the point....

Yes, you are correct...and the capitol of Powell County should be built on Jones Road.
