So Warner scuttled Webb's bill? I'm not surprised. Why is so much reverence given Warner? He became senator for two reasons, i.e., the death of GOP nominee Richard Obenshain and by marrying Liz Taylor.I was a member of the state GOPcentral committee at the time. I observed him making speeches on both sides of an issue. I kid you not! Warner isn't the brightest bulb in the senate, about 40 watt I would say. When he is supplanted by the other Warner, we may get some relief for our over extended troops.

1) Because chickens aren't (usually) pets and people don't care as much about them.

2) Because the defendants aren't famous or rich (or probably college-educated).

That said, I think they should be punished in a consistent manner with certain other cases that may have been in the news recently. They're both federal cases. We'll see, I guess.

Side notes - man, I always post under "confused" but now I don't want people to think I'm talking to myself...

Also, is it just me or this phrase - "raided the alleged cockpit" - weird? Do they refer to them as dogpits in dogfighting? Maybe some poster who is closer to the whole animal fighting culture can fill us in. I wasn't aware of that particular definition of "cockpit".

Give it some time. Story just got released. I think cockfighting is just as bad as dogfighting, and yes they need to go to jail just like Vick does. Serve this justice equally.

SEND THESE LOWLIFES TO JAIL!!!

(are you happy now, confused?)

This story will definitely not get the attention that the Vick story did...and why should it?

Why do we care about the young mother of two going through a terrible divorce and having some emotional/chemical abuse problems? We don't unless it's Britney Spears.

The "animal rights" folks think this is just as cruel and want the same punishment given...we'll see if it happens.

Betting on two animals, watching a bloody battle and the death of one or both of them, is sick and illegal. Anyone who participates in, or promotes these sadistic fights deserves to be jailed. Stupidity isn't just for the rich and famous. They just seem to avoid going to jail when they are caught breaking the law.

I wonder if they were able to turn themselves in at their convenience like STD Vick did & have bail hearing at the same time??? Probably Not!

I still don't understand how the life of one chicken can be so much more importanat than the life of another chicken. If it is alright for a man to kill a chicken to eat, then shouldn't it also be alright for a chicken to kill a chicken? These chickens have it a whole lot better than the ones we get at the store!

No uproar, no protests....NOTHING! It must be their "culture" to fight chickens. LOL My, my, my...how consistent we are about animal rights.(and no, I don't condone cockfighting and I am not a Vick supporter) It does go to show that the dogfighting case obviously didn't deter any other type of animal cruelty.

Nope, the reason this didn't get big coverage is none of the accused are professional atheletes. Animal rights activists are as much against this form of animal abuse as dog fighting. These roosters don't have it better, just different than chickens raised for consumption. Also, sane people don't get their rocks off watching animals fight to the death. Only absolute sickos and their kin enjoy violent exhibitions.
Wonder if between them, the suspects have a full set of teeth?
