I've suspected for a long time that some postal employees are engaged in mail fraud. I've had identity theft issues that most likely originated with mail tampering at the local level. The Feds need to address this issue system wide and not think this is a single isolated incident as suggested.

I don't know about embezzling, but our PO in Belmont is notoriously inept. For YEARS they have mad almost weekly mistakes in delivery. I am constantly getting the wrong mail at home and at the PO box. I have discussed this issue with the several Postmasters we've had over the years and nothing changes. The problem is - the post office not accountable to anyone. They can do a poor job and no one can do one thing about it.

I will say in closing, our regular carrier is very good. When he is out and a sub fills in - it's chaos.

This woman embezzled from the Belmont post office! Do you really think this is isolated? How about employees opening mail and stealing checks, then selling those babies on the black market? This stuff happens, at least it happened to me twice in 5 yrs. They need a spy working down there to catch these rats.

The issue of the post office service in Belmont involves several thngs. They are very good with counter service.

The former stamp machine was a piece of junk. Once this electronic stamp machine broke for the first time, it never stayed working at 100 percent for long, after that. Over the years due to working hours, I often go to the post office after hours, not having a stamp machine is a real problem to many people, myself included.

I live in an older neighborhood just a block away from Main St. A lot of people in the neighborhood complain about the irregular times the mail is delivered. When the post office is contacted they reply that we "are not on a regular route" and don't have a certain postman assigned to our route. We have the same issue with getting the wrong mail in the box, ever so often. I can only imagine what things are like in the new neighborhoods.

About two or three years ago, I had a serious issue with getting broken items that were shipped parcel post. The post office will only pay a claim for the purchase price of the item. One item I puchased was worth many times what I paid. It was broke when it arrived. As best I know this problem isn't as bad as it was a few years ago.

Right now, I would rate the service from the Belmont post office at about average or better.

Ever get in line behind someone tring to do some sort of screwed up bulk mailing? I have no idea why we have so many people in Belmont making bulk mailings at the service counter.

I don't appreciate people given negative comments about Postal people. I have worked for the PO form over 22 years, I know personally I am honest and proud to say I have done my best with working with the mail.
Boo hoo to those that talk and have no idea how "we" really are.

I agree, I think in the 17 years that I have lived in Belmont over in the North Belmont area I can count on one hand the times that my mail may have gotten placed in a wrong box and when you consider mail is usually delivered 6 days a week excluding Holidays that is in my book pretty incredible. And as for those who don`t know it you can buy Stamps at almost any Drugstore or Grocery Store in Belmont so you need to quit whining about the Stamp machine at the post office. You people amaze me, if it ain`t the City workers you are dragging through the Mud it is somebody else. Why can`t you find something good to say about people once in a while. Geez give us a Break.

You cannot just dismiss the real problems people in Belmont have had for years just because YOUR particular situation has been OK - or just because YOU work for the P.O.. It's this dismissive attitude and denial that make people loathe the post office. Instead of being defensive, why not demand that your employer get rid of the incompetent people who make you look bad? To arrogantly reply to YOUR CUSTOMERS in the defensive does NOT help you case!

What I think is funny is people who have police records can't get a job. And everytime you read the paper someone WITHOUT a police record is getting arrested for stealing or other things. Most people who have police records learn their lesson and just need a second chance, but usually never get one. Then you got the squeaky clean with no records doing most of the crimes. I just find it ironic.

LOL. Im squeaky clean, but I know people who can't get jobs because of things they did years ago. It's just ironic the one's committing the crimes are the ones you least suspect.

The USPO is run by the government. They (government officials) do the screening, hiring, training, etc..........is anyone surprised that we are hearing about criminals within the organization?

OK- how about getting your superiors to get rid of the people who steal and the people who constantly put mail in the wrong boxes? Then the reputation will improve. Police yourselves then we won't have any gripes. I'm glad you do a good job- thank you. But your colleagues make you look bad.
