So what are you saying "sean" you would not want to know who may be in contact with your children that has had assualt record against other individals? Remember everyone our most prize pocession is our children not someones EGO. Like putting someone on the 50.

I would definitely not want a person that has that kind of background to be around my child. For one, who's to say that just because we would lose a game, he would flip slam out and take it out of a child, parent or bystander. It by the way, it has happened. So do you want your child to witness that?
I know this is tough question but if we are about the kids this should be an easy question to answer.

My answer is : ABSOLUTELY NOT. What kind of roll model would he or she be to our kids in our organization?

It is up to us as parents/coaches and people of the community to safe guard our kids from those types of people.

We love our kids in Greater Gaston no matter what team they are on and we just want them to feel safe and to do that they must trust the leaders in the organization's. I would like to see a response from all of Greater Gaston's leaders and parents. Together we can keep our kids safe.
Remember that you are trusting these coaches with your children.

I agree, if they have an assualt record they should be banned from coaching forever. They made the choice and they have to live with it.

Also, to elaborate I think that everyone who is a coach should have to have a background check to clear them.

I don't agree with only having to turn in "ONE" background check from each organization. That is the job of the Greater Gaston Board Members to make sure that we are protecting our children.

If we are only having to turn in one, of course it will be one that is clear as a whistle.

Top Mayor - I commend you for this forum, unfortunetly I don't think that many people will respond.

You are right on Top Mayor, anybody with an assault record should not be coaching. Also, someone with crimes against a child should not coach.

I agree they should not be allowed to coach. I know that people mess up in there lives. I just feel that this is an area where kids look up to the people that are coaching them. Maybe I am wrong but this is how I feel.

I don't care how much a person has messed up, I don't want them coaching my kid... If you have an assault charge against anyone,(especially a minor) you should not be allowed to coach. I hope GG screens the COACHING APPLICATIONS, If a coach has a record and is allowed to coach and something does happen, our league would be no more. I feel as a parent, I have a right to know who is coaching my kids. I hope other parents feel the same.

AMEN!!! Something people agree on. This is definately a subject both of us agree with you on. Our child's first year was last season and would like to know what is the procedure for someone wanting to coach? I did not have any worries last year because I knew the coaches, but what if one did come along I did not.

Its nice to see that none of you people have ever made any mistakes in your lives...
I am assuming that one of the coaches has a past assult charge on thier record? Do you happen to know how long ago the incident took place? The circumstances behind that incident? No??? Hmmmm.
I love how you perfect people are so quick to throw stones at others. An assault charge has nothing to do with those children, say what you will. How in the hell would those children know about ANY kinds of charges people have on thier records, unless some of you childish parents make it public knowledge? Is no one allowed to redeem themselves? The only past charges anyone should concern themselves with is anything that has to do with a minor!!
I know plenty of coaches that might have had some issues in the past - and they are some of the best damn coaches out there. They care about those kids more than most of the "leaders" we have on our boards, etc!
All of you people need to GROW UP and get a life.

our most prize pocession is our children not someones EGO. WELL SAID!!!! Every town should do a background check on ALL coaches end of story. Wait til the day comes when a coach with an assault conviction loses his temper and assaults a CHILD whether verbally or physically this is a crime morally, socially and otherwise. If we should just forget and forgive then why not let pedophiles, thieves,DUI's,murde rers, recently paroled from the DOC all join in and coach our children. Turn the other cheek and throw the kids to the wolves. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones UNLESS it involves the welfare of any CHILD!!!!
