Cliff had plenty of support but opened the meeting stating the he does not want the CSA position as he feels he is not ready, nor would he accept it if it was offered to him. You can not give a man a job he does not want. He was a class act. Not everyone else was...

The BOE will move forward with Fyffe in the CSA position and begin searching for viable candidates to replace Fyffe when his contract is up.

Do you mean when his contract is up at the end of this year or does he have another year on his contract?

Mr Fyffe has a contract through the end of next year (July 2011 I think).

Not quite sure what that means... He will be the CSA through the end of the next school year. As I am not a mind reader nor a BOE member, may I suggest you read the minutes for further clarification.

I was only asking if anyone had better information than I had. I never wanted you to be a mind reader or a BOE member. If you didn't have the information than why did you answer me. There was no reason to get rude about me asking a question. If you had any class you would have ended your response at.....school year. No reason to respond to this I won't be reading it I will be reading the "minutes"
Have a good day Jennifer!

After attending the BOE meeting last night, I have to say that many of the folks on this blog did not do themselves any favors. Your scattered arguments and Perry Mason styled interrogation tactics made you look foolish and diminished your point.
And shame on those parents who are taking this out on Gina's children. I am not friends with Gina and may disagree with some of her decisions but she and every member of the BOE are volunteering their time to work towards repairing our school. We should be focusing on making things better for everyone's kids, not just the ones who agree with your points of view. That is absolutely appalling.
Ok. First of all, I have never posted on this board but I feel I must after reading your comments. What is appalling is that you would belittle those parents that stood up and cared enough to do it. They had the COURAGE to do it. Isn't that what board meetings are about when it's the public's turn to speak? You should never, ever discourage parents from speaking at a board meeting by saying they "looked foolish". That is just plain wrong so please don't discourage it. I applaud those parents for getting to the bottom of what did appear to be deceit. Their questions actually did help clear things up for me, and I'm sure they were nervous if they don't like speaking in public. Second, I don't think you were privy to what went on "behind the scenes". I was, and believe me, there is more to this than you know. If it ever comes out you will be just as shocked as I was. I am not going to mention anything here as I want our school to settle down and look forward. Third, there were no parents that said anything to Gina's daughter. It was other children who heard their parents and asked her daughter why her mom was getting rid of Principal Burns. That is to be expected as they are children, and that's what kids do. So please rethink how you belittled those parents in your comments. They wanted answers and that's what the public forum is for. I would also like to mention that those parents that had questions were cut off after three minutes, and those that went on and on and on like that one lady did praising the board and their decision was given all the time she wanted. That was not fair on the board's part. Parents were actually starting to feel uncomfortable and the lack of fairness was becoming a little too obvious.

I really hope you are not a teacher at Valley Road. First, you can't spell Jennifer properly. Second, it is just plain wrong to agree with someone who said parents looked foolish. They had the courage to get up and speak when nobody else would. Do not discourage parents at future board meetings from standing up and asking questions, which is what those parents did and they actually helped me by clarifying things, so I didn't have to get up, which I really don't like to do. By agreeing with her statements, you are doing this community a huge disservice. More parents should get involved and ask questions. I applaud the parents who did what they could to save Mr. Burns' job. Too many parents could care less about their kids or the school. Applaud those parents who cared enough to take action and actually show up at the meeting. The lack of attendance showed me that parents are so sick of the situation there they either give up or just plain don't care. So please think twice about what you agreeing with. Encouraging parents NOT to get up and speak by calling them foolish is just plain WRONG.

Curious how is it you know what happened or didn't happen to Gina Thomas' daughter? I know for a fact which parent not only approached her daughter but a good friend of hers. The majority were kids repeating what they heard at home but don't let the parent who did totally cross the line off the hook!! As far as fairness I was there and I have to disagree with you one person was asked to sit down because she would not stop otherwise GT let everyone speak and answered all questions. Some went over some didn't but only one person was asked to sit.

The person that was asked to stop was only speaking for five or six minutes and was continually interrupted by Gina to the point of making the speaker flustered. The person who praised the board and the decision was speaking for at least ten minutes and was never asked to stop nor was she interrupted when she asked questions. I know this for a fact because I was also there. Please tell me where the fairness lies in that? If Gina had a problem with a parent approaching her daughter she should have handled it in a private way with that particular parent. The public was not there to be slapped on the hand like a bunch of kindergarten kids. If GT could give a 10 minute speech slapping hands then she should have given the public the same amount of time to speak in all fairness. It wasn't the place for a public tar and feathering. Unprofessional and very innappropriate.

I agree with Confused. That was a public lynching and not the place for it. Regardless of what parents said or did, a school board meeting is not the place for a board president to do that to the audience. I was actually embarrassed for GT because audience members were all whispering saying they couldn't believe she was doing it. She made a fool of herself.

GT was fine. The lynching was directed at her. She is ONE of many members on that board but the only one taking all the heat. She didn't make this decision alone. I think you are all pissed because she is the only woman and you all expect her to act and think like you. How come none of the kids belonging to the male BOE members were attacked? Grow up ladies - Gina was simply doing her job, which as President, is to run the meeting. The decision was made, whether you like it or not. Stop harping on it and move on. AND, while I love Mr Burns, he was a terrible disciplinarian. Maybe you are upset because kids will actually be held accountable for their actions. Hhhhmmm - could they be your kids?

First off, I never attacked Gina. I said what she did at the meeting was not fair and inappropriate. That is not an attack. Second, my children have never had discipline problems at school, so I've never dealt with him in that way. Maybe you know he is a terrible disciplinarian because you have experience with YOUR child. I wouldn't be privy to that. Third, there was a simple solution to this. Keep Mr. Burns for the STABILITY our school needs since Fyffe will be out in a year anyway and hire a part time super for the year. Very easy. Stanhope school has been through too much change as it is and for THE BOARD, not just GT, to bring in more change is wrong. FYFFE WILL BE GONE IN A YEAR. What don't parents get about that? Then we will be right back where we are now. GT will be the only one taking the heat because she is president. If she can't take the heat then she should get out of the seat. Not cry like a baby because someone teased her kid. Give me a break lady. You need to grow up and learn what happened behind the scenes. Then your foot would be in your mouth.

You need to wake up lady. Mr. Burns handled situations at that school beautifully, including discipline. At least he didn't let little boys get away with verbally and physically harassing girls like Fyffe has in the past. How would you feel if that was your daughter? This was the worst decision that board has made yet and you will all feel it next year, including YOUR kid. Don't come on this board crying and defending your precious GT until you have experienced dealing with Mr. Fyffe. Oh what fun you will have. He doesn't deal with kids well or parents. Mr. Burns is outside every day welcoming those kids into school. Fyffe just stands there not even saying hello to one child. You are in for it. You will see. I can't wait. WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Just get over it. Cliff Burns is history. He might have been real nice, he might have been outside waving at kids and their parents. What has that got to be with being a Principal. If you want a waver and a friend for your kids, go to the board meetings and ask them to hire a school friend. I personally want a professional principal and a professional superintendent. I am not looking to have a board waste my tax money hiring a waver and a friend. The Board has made their decision. LIVE WITH IT!!!

Mr. Burns is very professional. Sounds like "I am for real" needs a very strong hand to discipline her kids!
