Yep...that's true. Netcong doesn't want to share services anymore. Fife will be super/principal for Stanhope and they are letting our wonderful principal, Mr. Burns, go. It is a very sad day in Mayberry. Now instead of Netcong and Stanhope paying 300 plus a day...each will be paying 700 plus a day. Stanhope is getting rid of all the good teachers. Don't know what they are thinking. Apparently, some woman named Bernadette who is on the Netcong Board had a lot to do with this decision. If I ever met her or saw her...I would let her know the position she put Stanhope in.

And by the way, apparently, Netcong is hiring back Mr. DeBenedetto to fill the position. Good luck Netcong.

I thought Netcong was the reason Stanhope got rid of Mr. D. How can we get information to the board? Also, how can we get our opinions to them?

It is a very sad situation in both Stanhope and Netcong- all because some woman in Netcong- wants her man back- does anyone know what the relationship was between this Bernadette and Mr. D. Rumor has it...
Seems Mr. D. already put his 2 cents in on facebook- check it out!
maybe people without kids in the school shouldn't be on the board.

Go to a board meeting. Stanhope has BOE meetings first and third Wednesdays and Netcong has BOE meetings first and third Tuesdays.

Maybe Mr. D should get his facts straight before he posts on Facebook. Real professional! I know why Long Hill and Stanhope got rid of him.

netcong did get rid of Mr. D and the matinance man because of an altercation at stanhope school. mr. d comented on mr. thomas performance and said he will descuss it when he comes to work at netcong. mr. thomas came to our school (stanhope) and was yellling and swearing at mr.d my daughter was in the office when it occured. she was scared for mr. d. she thought that mr. thomas was going to kill mr. d. that was her exact words to me after school. i wrote a letter to board of stanhope and netcong. i was NOT NICE AT ALL. can you blame me. i stuck up for me.d. he was yelling back. HE WAS DEFFENDING HIMSELF. CAN ANYONE BLAME HIM. after all the complaining about mr. thomas i believe that all the parents had a influence on getting mr. thomas fired. and they did let go of mr. d. that was a shame because i really liked him. he helped me out with my kids when there was a problem. it can't be that bad netcong hired him back ;) but of course stanhope won't because of gina thomas with the ordeal with her husband shame on her

Both men were inappropriate and both men are no longer associated with Stanhope Schools.

What? Only one man is no longer associated with Stanhope school and thar is Mr D. Mr Thomas is free to come and go within the school with his very bad temper and inappropriate behavior.

The only person that put Stanhope in any postion is Gina Thomas. She and her merry band of fellow board members did this not anyone else.

They could have followed suit and let Mr Fyffe go and togther look for someone else.

Please stanhope residents dont let the smoke get in the way of the truth this was and is a Stanhope board issue.

Please support Mr Burns and come to the Board meeting on May 19th and demand they fire Mr Fyffe and keep Mr Burns and then we can demand Ms Thomas resign because she has clearly shown she can not be trusted with doing what is right for the kids.

Message to Gina Thomas and the Stanhope Board of Education:

Find out if the American Legion is available on May 19th. Because there is not enough room in Valley road school to hold all the parnets that are coming to support Mr Burns.

Is there a NJ requirement to have a Superintendent for every school? If it is the case, then unfortunately maybe Mr Burns doesn't have the qualifications/credentials to hold the newly created combined position (like Nick Brown didn't - the Stanhope BOE gift that keeps on giving....).

STILL, that doesn't mean that the BOE should not have looked at other alternatives to solve our latest crisis. They've taken their time in the past to find solutions - why did this all happen on one night when the public wasn't there? I think they found an easy scapegoat (Netcong BOE) to make a quick decision that solves our budgetary needs but ignores the long term needs of our school and children.

What they have ignored again are the voices of our parents and students who want to keep quality educators in our school for longer than a few years. You can not be successful and make gains when you change players constantly. Thankfully, our teachers are providing the stability our kids need. But that is also now in jeopardy thanks to our Governor.

Bottom line: Stanhope BOE needs to start thinking long term strategy and stick with it. Hire people who do not want the word "interim" in their job description. Our kids deserve better than a bandaid solution.

He's a parent and has every right to be at the school the same way you are.

Maybe you should put your money where your mouth is and run for the board. It's easy to be all talk. Take action!

Yes, we are required to have a Super, and yes that is probably true, Mr. Burns doesn't have the qualifications to be in the position of super and principal. The meeting you speak of was open to the public, but again no one showed. The meeting was announced in the New Jersey Herald, Daily Record, Stanhope and Netcong Post Offices and a few other places. It seems the only time people come to a BOE meeting is when there is trouble. And there sure is the smell of trouble in the air. You are right, it does stink that we can't seem to keep administration. I work in a school district in Morris County and in the 11 years that I have been there the district has gone through four superintendents and three interim superintendents, for a grand total of 7!!! Let's see, in my school building we've had five principals come and go in 11 years. It seems to be the nature of the beast. The sign of the times. And you're right again, it's worse because of the Gov.

Mr Burns has the proper certifications to be a Super/principal.

He was never asked if he would want the job.

Mr Fyffe talked the board into hiring him and firing Mr Burns. He ws looking out for himself.

End of story!!

The BOE is not ruled by Gina Thomas. The members have their own thoughts and opinions. If people went to the board meetings on a regular basis, you would know this. If you have an opinion and you don't feel like approaching Gina, then go to another member of the board. There happens to be 3 new members, all of whom have a long history with the school system. The men and women who serve on these boards want to see the school succeed!
