Jesus does say where they are two people gathered in his name he will be there.I myself would like to find such a church as Christian Chick describes but until you do grab a friend over open the "BOOK" and discuss away.

...Where is this Journey church located?..
I would like to attend a church regularly, it's been a long time...but seems like all the ones I have visited tend to be very cliquey and I really don't like having to dress up every time I attend...I wore jeans a few times and was frowned upon....I truly believe it doesn't matter what you wear as long as you are clean and decent..
I am a believer in Christ, but also a free thinker, who loves discussing christianity and the bible in a relaxed forum...Where questions one might have aren't considered to be heretic...Where one can discuss different ideas related to faith...Where one can find an inclusive forum so that all aspects of faith can be explored...
If anyone knows of such a church that exists, please post it here...
You need to check out [email protected] It is very relaxed, casual dress, breakfast at 10:00. Our pastor encourages discussion during his sermon. If you want to make a comment or ask a question, you are free to do so. We are small but growing. A different kind of church for people who desire a different kind of worship experience.

I attend Journey Church regularly. I came from a baptist church and I absolutley LOVE Journey! We are located on Fairgrounds Road, right next to the fairgrounds. Our music is awesome and the message is, well, there are no words to describe it. I will tell you this, you can definately feel God's presence. Come on out, we'd love to have you. Services start on Sunday morning at 10:30. Come early and eat some donuts, muffins or whatever they decide to fix and get to know everyone! Hope to see you there!

Wanted: Looking for a nice church in Stanford to attend regularly. Big or small. Not ruled by money and favoritism. Comfortable atmosphere where brothers and sisters really love you. No dead worship, looking for praise and worship. Denomination doesn't matter. Not looking to do fellowship outside of church at regular little dinners, etc. etc. etc. Just worship.

Plus, the attitude you displayed in your last sentence is the attitude of the congregation (WE ARE THE BEST..BETTER THAN ALL THE REST) Believe me, the attitude at Stanford Baptist is that of superiority, not Godliness. I have tried on several occasions to be accepted at Stanford Baptist, and have virtually been passed in the hallway by deacons and prissy women who looked into my face and turned their pious heads the other way. Snobby people, snobby preacher, snobby choir director and if your clothes are right and your tithe not pkenty, you are just not welcome!! That is the truth and many have expressed the same sentiment!!

The good people at SBC do not intimidate me. As in any church, there are some there to worship and some there to put in an appearance. I simply prefer to attend services where a majority of the congregation is interested in worship, not putting on a show. Are you proud that your church is threatening and intimidating to many who have tried to be a part of the "good" people?

The good people at SBC are good people and if you don't like the "show" we put on than don't come and if this so called attitude is commonly know than why is it that you came in the first place

Did this church you are talking about use to be called The Tabernacle on 27 in the old Social Services office by the old WRSL location? What denomination is it, or rather if not a denomination what do they believe? Do they have a website I can go to check them out?

no its out by the funeral home - i think its spurlins. google new day worship center lancaster ky and i thought their page automatically came up but i just tried it and instead a topix page came up but if you go down a few links it'll give you directions and you can navigate your way to the home page from there. they are also on facebook. if you read the topix page keep in mind everything written was a couple of years ago - they have a new pastor since the jeremy gilliam - i don't know anything about the old pastor so i can't say if the stuff is true or not, but the current pastor and his wife are two of the most loving christians i've ever met - they've helped me alot . it's a penacostal church. on their website you can email the pastor or just look them up on facebook - that might be the easiest thing to do. if you have any more questions just ask me.

This thread saddens me a great deal. I believe that a lot of this talk is why so many people are not in church. There is no reason to perpetuate the ideals that kids carry in high school about fitting in or being better than someone else. People shouldn't be concerned about the attitudes of anyone in the congregation but themselves. Church is a place to learn about and worship the Lord. Not for competing, judging, or for that matter, having a social gathering. There are fellowship events where social time happens. Focus on the Lord and not others' clothes, attitudes, or opinions. Each will be judged according to their own works. And that goes for every person in every church in every county. There is none exempt and none better than another. Please, as others have said here before me - if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. God tells us to love one another!
May He bless and keep you all.

You said it.
I was judged over and over bye the church people and i could not bear that cross any longer when they kept tripping me.
I hate church and anyone that goes.
I will never be as good as them and i will not put my self down any more to lift them up/.
They are evil devils.
They told lies that would make the devil cry on me.
I just could not understand how this helpped them.
Dont give a crap

I am very disappointed that we are seeing alot of 'end days churches'. No spirit in alot of them (lukewarm).......what I have seen time and again and this in different churches/denominations is the following that should not be going on:
FAVORITISM, is not the shepherd supposed to CARE for the sheep? Why then does one pastor whose church I visited go right by you, knowing you are there and sit two seats in front of you talking to the more rich crowd making small talk while totally ignoring you?
SOCIAL GATHERING Since when did the church stop having the MAIN focus to be worship and not dinners, family night games, etc. etc. Then there is the one church that has retreats once a year and of course it is self pay so only the members with money get to go, which DIVIDES the church into rich and poor and creates problems.
WHATS WITH THE BREAKFAST deal? Has the church not became MCDONALDS
Remember people what Jesus did when the tax collectors were in the temple? Do you think he would REALLY approve of anything OTHER THAN WORSHIP in his house?
