Full story: Red Bluff Daily News

I met Alexander Kerensky during my freshman year at Stanford; we were in line together for dinner in the freshman dining hall.

"We are spoiled, and our attitude toward food is based on the fact that we have been spoiled"

That's the gist of this article in one single sentence. And, it's not a problem confined to Red Bluff, California, or even the United States. People who have never done without have no real appreciation of the concept of hunger, it's an abstract.

California's chronic problem is that of overspending. The only reason that there's a problem is because enough of their legislators and citizens have not, in previous years, manifested sufficient intestinal fortitude and organizational talent to put their foot down, and establish some no-nonsense budget rules.

"When I was a principal..." Who cares? So you were a fat(see picture) K-12 school administrator who tried to 'get in touch with students feelings' or whatever, when you should have been ensuring that they were receiving quality instruction. Is this a good time to bring up that CA public schools are now 47th, nationwide?

I'm not saying that the writer here is a fat miserable bloated joke has-been bureaucrat with no earthly clue, I'm saying that he has never experienced the old hunger he talked about, and has probably never done without in his entire life, and as a result, does not share the perspective of many people living in California today who kind of used to have something going for them, but in New California, with rising unemployment and other social problems, are shopping their options for some other state to try out. When the Okies turn around and move home to Oklahoma, you know there's a problem...

Let's hear it for Bert! After reading a sincere article about maintaining a positive attitude during trying times, Bert really showed Dr. Harrop.

How dare a "fat miserable bloated joke" suggest we not go down the road of bickering and complaining about how bad things are. How dare that "has been bureacrat" waste his life trying to "get in touch" with students.

Bert has a better approach to life. Post bile-spewing rants; insult a man who did him no wrong, and basically paint himself as a classless jerk.

Let's hear it for Bert!

Oh, and for the record, California is ranked 47th in per pupil FUNDING (something you seem to be against). That may be the reason we are ranked 37th in overall education.
