from Las Vegas Review Journal:

"The lawsuit alleged that the results of psychological testing in 2000 showed that Parry was a 'sexual abuser who had the proclivity to reoffend with minors.' The results were provided to Catholic and Episcopal church leaders in Nevada, the lawsuit said.

"Parry acknowledged the results but said Episcopal leaders here were not informed in 2000. He said he told church officials about the 1987 incident when he was applying to become an Episcopal priest in 2002. They did a background check and ended up allowing him into the priesthood in 2004.

"Barbara Blaine, president and founder of the Chicago-based watchdog Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, was at All Saints' Episcopal Church on Thursday to call attention to the lawsuit and Parry's past ...

"'The reason that this is so horrific is that the Episcopal Church authorities knew about Father Parry's history, and yet they still allowed him to come and work here,' she said."

This sounds like one of those made for television movies. If he was an Episcopal priest what did he have to do with the Abbey in Missouri? If he was there as part of a summer program, privacy laws may have forbid Episcopal Church officials from sharing information about the priest's past. In several of these well known cases confidentiality and doctor/patient privilege dis-allow the disclosure of certain medical conditions.

The story here does not connect the dots real well. One laughable aspect is that it would seem that the lawyers have really backed themselves into a corner.

Come on Joe. You didn't make note of the sarcasm? I know it wasn't posted by you. But I also know that being the first to post a reaction or reference to it, certain posters will:
a. Assume you posted it.
b. Discern that your purpose was to destroy TEC.
c. Deflect any discussion of the article by proclaiming the shortcomings of the church to which you belong.

Advocacy groups dispute study of priest sex abuse

By Rita Rubin, USA TODAYUpdated 5/19/2011 2:01 AM

...One of the main reasons abuse has continued is "a lack of accountability and transparency in the church," said Nick Ingala, a spokesman for Voice of the Faithful, a Boston-based group that supports survivors of clergy sexual abuse.

"The bishops have not been held responsible for keeping priests (known to be abusers) in the ministry," he said.

Both Dorris and Ingala say the problem is ongoing and cited the arrest in February of four Philadelphia-area priests on charges of sexually abusing or endangering minors in the 1990s. A fifth defendant, the former secretary of clergy for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, has been charged with felony endangerment for placing the priests in positions that gave them access to minors.

When asked about the Philadelphia situation at Wednesday's news conference, Bishop Blase Cupich of the Diocese of Spokane, Wash., said he did not yet know the details, but "whatever happened is an anomaly."

Church Report Cites Social Tumult in Priest Scandals

...In Philadelphia, where a grand jury in February found that as many as 37 priests suspected of behavior ranging from sexual abuse to inappropriate actions were still serving in ministry. The archdiocese initially rejected the grand jury’s findings, but soon suspended 26 priests from ministry.

An essay in the Catholic magazine Commonweal last week by Ana Maria Catanzaro, who heads the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s sexual-abuse review board, which is supposed to advise the archdiocese on how to handle abuse cases, said that the board was shocked to learn about the dozens of cases uncovered by the grand jury. Her essay raised questions about whether bishops provide accurate data even to their own, in-house review boards.
