While I am happy that Mr. Stinson has power to save his wine, there are elderly people that still have no power. They are part of the 5% that the power companies feel are too spread out to bother with right away.
Appalacian Power has done a terrible job with keeping any of us up-to-date on timeline for repair. They have just forgotten about us.
The elderly do not have computers or smart phones that can give them any information. They know nothing.
How about rememberng North Garden, huh?

Virginia gal, you have to keep in mind, if the power company has the choice to dispatch crew to fix a line that will restore power to 100 customers versus dispatching crews to fix a line that will restore power to 10 people, they will go for the 100 customers every time. And there will likely be more seniors restored in that 100 than in the 10.
That's the reality of living in a rural area when a big storm knocks out power to a huge area. The cities, with a denser population and more accessible lines, will ALWAYS be worked on first. But that doesn't mean every city customer will be on before rural areas. There's a house on E High street in the city whose individual service line is still down despite the fact the crew have moved out to the county.

Heartfelt thanks to the power crew from Hattiesburg, Miss and the crew that replaced them last night!!! You guys are awesome! Finally got the power back on last night after 5 days.
Hope that those who still don't have power get it back quickly. Way too long a wait for those in the rural areas with no water. Dominion has to change their priorities to get to those who depend on electricity for their water pumps.

So far, Dominion still does not estimate restoration times (as of Thursday sometime in the middle of the day). Maybe they meant by quittin' time on Thursday.
