Hurting their own cause

There are 14 comments on the Berkshire Eagle story from Jul 20, 2009, titled Hurting their own cause. In it, Berkshire Eagle reports that:

What does the Massachusetts Wind Siting Reform Act have in common with the American Clean Energy and Security Act? Both are as recent as ripe strawberries, both are controversial and both are opposed by people who don't believe in global warming and, somewhat surprisingly, some who do.

Mr. Stevens,

This is one of the most condescending columns I've ever read in the Eagle.

I, and many other Democrats and Independents, are skeptical of global warming and green initiatives. Some of us would like to see a vigorous debate between Al Gore and Bjorn Lomborg to hear all sides of the story. A cost/benefit analysis of how we best use our resources is in order.

Climate change may be real and significant, it may not be. Your joke about waterboarding those of us who do not believe is crass and juvenile.

Know it all, condescending, insufferable buffoons like yourself make me think of Winston Churchill's famous words:

"we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end, we shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender,"

Trust me Mr. Stevens, many of us will fight you and your intolerant attitude with every legal resource available.

Trust me Mr. Stevens, with this scaremongering "know what is good for the rest of us" way of thinking you will lose.

Trust me Mr. Stevens.

Regards,

Chuck

Bjorn Lomborg is a hated BELIEVER IN AGW!

Why would the fellow AGW crisis peddlers hate a fellow believer?

Because this fellow believer of considerable staure says "Global warming is not a priority"

OH MY gOD! How dare he not sing the crisis song!

The search and destroy mission must proceed:

Bjorn Lomborg admits his intellectual bankruptcy

"The other shoe has dropped as Bjorn Lomborg publicly admits his intellectual bankruptcy.

Not in so many words, but he may as well have.

What he actually said was directed to Al Gore, as follows:

“I don’t mean to corner you, or maybe I do mean to corner you, but would you be willing to have a debate with me on that point?” asked Mr. Lomborg.

Can there be a more telling confession

that you have nothing of substance to offer

than challenging a public figure

to debate matters of fact and science?"

Interview with Bjorn Lomborg: Science versus name-calling

Danish author of 'The Sceptical Environmentalist' and former member of Greenpeace, addressed a climate conference in Sydney on November 22-23.

FY: What sort of criticisms have you encountered to your work, and how have you responded to them?

BL: A review was published in Nature, very scathing, essentially calling me incompetent, though they didn’t use that word. I am putting a reply on my Web site in a few days, where I go through their arguments, paragraph by paragraph. They paint me with all kinds of bad adjectives, but basically, if I’m so wrong, it should be easy to say, this number is incorrect, instead of just calling me an immoral person or somebody who doesn’t understand things. So I say, come out with the numbers instead of just calling names.

A favourite phrase I’ve heard from lawyers is,

"If you have a good case, pound the case; if you have a bad case, pound the table." If you hear that people are pounding the table, it indicates they don’t have very good arguments.

Bjorn dares ask, "How much does climate mitigation cost? Is that the best use for all that money?"

Can't have that.

Hopefully more and more people will start asking those type questions and we won't make foolhardy decisions that cripple our way of life.

You really are a piece of work!
Trying to make people feel guilty about an uncertain future is pathetic, underhand and shameful.

Hypothetically, if CO2 mitigation turned out to be the wrong move, it could condemn future generations to another glacial.
Who would those generations be cursing then?

The same goes for nuclear power.

I checked out Bjorn Lomborg. The guy makes sense and I too hope he and Al Gore have a series of Lincoln Douglass style debates throughout the country.

I think this would be of great benefit to hear all sides in depth.

Think it could happen? Or will President Obama try to cram cap and trade through without having us know what it really means?

Could you please tell everyone you know about the story of Mrs. Kimberly Phillips of Crowley Louisiana that shot her husband! The day after going to court to have a protective order placed in the court system. But the judge denied the order. The husband went to the house and she shot him. Mrs. Phillips is now sitting in jail with a $75K bond. She has never been in trouble with the law. This poor woman is sitting in jail for defender herself. This is just a bad case of the justice system going the wrong way. This young lady needs help..Please see the story..I went to high school with her just the nicest person you every would meet. Please pass it around...

About as much chance of a snowball surviving an hour in an erupting volcano.
Fat Al refuses to debate the issue with anyone who isn't a follower of his religion/business.
He couldn't debate the issue at any level, because he doesn't have the knowledge, he's a salesman who knows little about the product, nothing more.

Debating the topic with someone who knows more of the facts than he does would ruin his chance of keeping the scam alive and in the long term, severely affect his future income from carbon credit sales.
