Save Stallings PD

Please join our efforts in keeping our Stallings Police Department. People need to understand we are not in a buget crisis. In fact, the complete opposite. Mayor Paxton is only looking at the PD in the attempt to save dollars vs exploring other avenues, like minimizing the parks and recreation funding ($1.7 millions). We would like to see her work along side the Councilmen/woman who have been voted in by the citizens. Stop utilizing the media and your website to voice your opinion. This is hurting our department and making the town look bad. This is not a one man show. She will be the first to state the media and citizens have taken this issue out of context but to start your own website which is all about "her" own opinion on why she feels its in our best interest to rid our PD, to send a letter about severance package is putting the cart before the horse. It is clear she is working against her team. In her presentation on Aug 5th, 2010 she states they should work on getting citizens feedback- I can promise you this - nothing has happened. It was not until our FB page was created have people had more of an open forum to speak. But for her to mention on her personal website that our FB page is a social sources that does not provide viable information was a confusing to us. We have only posted links to the Town of Stallins and HER own website. There have been no efforts made by the Mayor to hear the citizens except at the local town council meetings, even then you hear her making a comment "I see the pro-police are here". Listen to it - log on to the Town of Stallings website. Enough is enough, we want to be heard, we are heading up a petition. Please join our website, our goal is to help you read ALL the information and formulate a better opinion. We may point out some key notes from the material but it is your decision. We just hope in the end you support to keep our PD! Our PD knows the area, our PD knows the community, our PD connects with the people in the community and our PD has provided a great service to us, our businesses and recently new school. If we want to make this a place where people move to and grow, then think about what brought you here. We leave you with this - since when did saftey come with a million dollar tag-...if you went missing tomorrow, would your family feel better that they POSSIBLY saved a million in tax dollars. We are not trying to scare you, its a fact! Join our FB page. http://www.facebook.com/ #!/pages/Support-the-Stallings -NC-Police-Department/15180962 4844401?ref=ts

Beware, these sites are not accurate.

I believe it has been mentioned multiple times that a survey would come out in January.

Mayor Paxton has been open and honest in her communication.

I support those who protect our community, but I am tired of this department constantly being politicized by a few who don't know what they are talking about.

As interdependent as we all are on our Police Departments the loss of one Department would servery impact on the quality of the service of another in the so called fringe area of another.

We here in Mint Hill have been monitoring this and are amazed how they are even contemplating this move. First we do not see how they are offering this as a budget reduction move for taxes. This would only be a move the expenditures to other projects keeping the same tax rates.

And there for keeping the level of coverage of Union County Sheriff's Deputies at this low a level at the very far end of the county would most defintenly tax the resources of the surrounding towns as well as require the surrounding towns be allowed to extend and come into the the Union County Area when persuing an active suspect. I would hope this is not what the good folks at Stallings had not wanted to happen.

We here in Mint Hill challenge or neighbors in
Stallings to investigate these facts for themselves. Keep in mind you will never be able to afford to start up your own Police Department as you were given incentives when yours was originally started that are no longer available.

Please make this something you take a few minutes to do for your safety and the future of your family today.

Mint Hill (THANK YOU!!!) That is just one of a million reasons why we the citizens of Stallings are asking our other citizens to please read beyond Mayor Paxton's letters and understand everything that is going! XYZ - our documents come from the Town of Stallings along with Mayor Paxtons documents. There is not one document on our website that comes from any other source than from our Town office. Now its several of those documents which have a lot more explaining to do! Its not hard to read and understand especially when a Mayor states "this is of my own opinion". Many of her documents that she has provided have severe questionable data (simply add and cross reference with the reports she claims she is pulling her info from). Anyone can see that for themselves, which is why we are here! To show everyone how to get to those documents. And to attend the town hall mtgs to learn as much as they can. JUST READ! All we ask is to stop speaking out to the media and writing your OWN letters - work with your Councilmen first! Stop putting our PD dept in fear - like we said, putting the cart before the horse when you send a letter to the Chief speaking about severance packages. It was all over Channel 9 and will be all over other news stations. Again, join our site. We provide links straight to the important documents and MORE. It shows xyz, you just hate when the truth gets published, so stop working against us and provide us documents you feel are more factual - that is if you care to dispute those coming from Town Hall. Support the Stallings, NC Police Department

This issue has grown completely out of control by those who enjoy stirring up trouble. Stallings is doing a 5 year financial plan. Because public safety takes 40% of the budget that will be ONE area they are looking at. Outsourcing is ONE option. Without facts and figures supporting one over another, we don't know. Facts suggest the dept is too big. No one has said they are eliminating the police.
This particular group has so much hatred forthe Mayor, that they would rather employ fear tactics over obtaining factual information.
The new document "More Interesting Facts, Figures and other Poison".....where the author discusses bullet six and talks about staffing, that , in actuality, that bullet discusses that factor used by the person conducting the study is the amount of time an officer is not available-I.e Stallings officers are out sick, in court, training more than 50% more than average. The percapita comparison is from a study Indian Trail conducted, the calls longer than 20 minutes-one call shows over 20 hours-this made it appear that we need more officers than we actually do.
I could go on all day and poinit out where they have twisted valid information.
In addition to looking at this information, I urge you to look at other information and come to your own conclusions, or better yet wait until our elected officials get all of the supporting facts and figures. I would be wary of relying solely on information from this group.
Our Mayor is a very intelligent woman, and will make sure she has all of the facts before making any decisions.

Paxton has had her own website for 4+ years. It's not new. The FB webpage for the 'support the pd' is a joke. It is populated mostly by people who don't even live in the town of Stallings. Oh there are a handful of Stallings people on it...the same old ones spewing fear and twisting info and who don't understand how government works.

We do not "hate" the Mayor again you are fighting with emotions. If there ever any comments that are negative about her, they are deleted. We have never said she is anything less than intelligent. We have every right to question ANY numbers on a presentation. We CANT twist data that is produced from the Town. We are not stirring up trouble but making people aware of how serious this issue to our town. All we are saying if this is just ONE option then why are you putting the cart before the horse. Where is option two? But thanks xyz, if you have other documents that are not on our website that you feel should be then submit them! We are all ears. By the way, have you seen our website?? Again, all the links are there. We have no hidden agenda, no hatred - Just SUPPORTING our PD! Have a great day!! Hope to see you soon our page!

If our officers have 'fear' over things like possible incentives, signing bonuses and severence pay perhaps we have bigger issues in public safety than we thought.

Anyone else tired of hearing that it is a "PD or no PD" thing from the FB gang? Everything that has been said at the council meetings and in writing states that IF they outsource there will still be a PD just a contract one. And that is only one OPTION. They haven't even figured out if it is possible. Maybe it isn't so why not let them find out.

The 'save the pd' people are the ones jumping the gun and using fear to make people think they would be unprotected. IF the town has the same level coverage does it really matter what the label on it is? How is that 'unsafe'.

I am sure you are sincere in your efforts to inform the public. All I am suggesting is wait until all the information is in before assuming the dept is going to be eliminated.

Actually the "PD" are in fear of their jobs at no fault of us. Two have already left thanks to the fear. So think about the bigger picture. We are trying to let the "PD" know we support them in hopes that more do not leave and hopefully ride this out until a final answer is given. We apologize if you dont want to hear us rally behind our guys during this scary time. How would you feel if your job was in jeopardy and has been since 08? They have families to support, let alone protect us. Your right "IF" we get the same coverage is a huge proble to those citizens who believe the service we have received these past few years is of high standards. Talk to the town citizens whose PD was outsourced and there are some that will tell you the coverage, the support is not the same. Some may say otherwise. But dont you feel the citizens need to be heard on their opinion too? Dont you feel better if you are able to put a face with a name. Well our PD guys are out there and they know their community and the people. We sleep well at night knowing who is watching over us.

Stop trying to stop the process and let the council look at numbers, data and information. We didn't elect anyone at SaveOurPD to do the work for us. Let the process work and let the council figure out what is best for a 5 year plan. Once again and again and again.... did ever dawn on anyone that if the process comes back in favor of an independent vs. outsourced pd department that it would give the dept a lot more credibility? You are the ones that damage the PDs credibility by fearing a real review.

And since when did it become the Mayor's agenda? All of the folks who won last year ran on a platform of good business sense and in support of a five year plan. Perhaps she and a couple of others are the only ones not afraid to stand up and follow through on their word.

Guess it is better to block out all thought and views from our elected representatives? This may surprise you but it is a little thing called free speech!

BTW - her website doesn't say anywhere that she plans to get rid of the police department. Only people saying that are those on that FB page. Her website and her words in the media and elsewhere only states that there are other options that need explored. So perhaps it is you who is jumping the cart before the horse?

Would you consider a regional PD in order to save your PD. Lets say in cooperation with Lake Park, Wesley Chapel and Indian Trail.

If Mayor had factual information and was intelligent as you say she would have come out front and center on Channel 9 news last night and not hid at home like a chicken. She sent a letter to town employees knowing full well she has no control over the hiring, firing or bonuses for the personnel at the Police Department nor the Town Hall. The Police Chief must be livid that she is putting the "FEAR TACTIC" to his employees. Mayor Paxton is the one using this technique to get the cops to leave town. She ought to be ashamed and you also for supporting the technique of harrassing employees with families and young children! Move to Indian Trail if you want contract officers! Stallings is smart and up to date in law enforcement! Mayor Paxton uses private citizens on committees so she can put the blame to them when she suggests and gives them guidance on issues. Poor people think they are contributing to our town and she is just using them to have someone to be her scape goat as she always does. The majority of the citizens of Stallings have her number. Thank God!
