If the only thing she is going to do is watch out for her own well beeing the lets impeach mayor Paxton and see if we can find someone that will look out for the entire towns well being.

Mayor Paxton listened to the concerns of 2300+ citizens who voiced their opinions, attended numerous meetings, and signed petitions about the bypass in a logical and timely fashion over a long period of time.

To suggest that Mayor Paxton was only concerned for her own well being shows your own bias and self interest.

You probably live in Eagle Crest beside Linda. I think that everyone who thinks that option 2 has a very big oppinion problem. Just because you were told of the plans before others and had more time to get your petitions together doesnt make your opinion any less smelly.

Your assumptions on others' motives, addresses, etc. and your personal attacks only show your ignorance of the issues and inability to be objective.

The Monroe Bypass options have been public information for YEARS. Check the facts and the public record.

Attacking others who have stayed informed and spoke out on the issues only weakens your point further.

How can objective can the mayor be or a certain council member when they think that this 25 feet wall in the option 2 design is GREAT? How can they be objective if they want to purchase the corner of Stallings/Stevens Mill Rd with TAXPAYERS money to develop a YMCA? Could it possibly be to put another project in the way of 18A?

How can they be SO WORRIED ABOUT THE SCHOOL CHILDREN when they approved all of the permits necessary to build the DARN SCHOOL in the 1st place!! One of the option 2 supporters is that the 18A will affect the air quality. 18A will have 4 lanes of traffic and the option 2 will have 12 (TWELVE)!! Which is going to have the worst effect? 8 (you got to count the existing 74's 4 lanes, or 12

You almost think that someone is getting some type of money for supporting this crazy option 2? I wonder...
Is does not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out?

LMAO - you want to talk about personal attacks? What about the personal attacks that the CARE and the mayor and a coucilman did when they had the Turnpike Authority at the church in Stallings back in December 2007? They attacked the female engineer's integrity and professional demeanor. The lady is just doing her job.

Is that how we want our town leaders to conduct theirselves? I do not think that it does not matter that was not "official" town business. This mayor and councilman are elected officials, therefore, they represent all of the residents of Stallings, and I do not want to be represented in this manner, period.

What good does it do to attack someone personally? Unless of course, you have no valid arguments (except not in my back yard, please, maybe?). As I write this, this reminds me of what my children do when they have some silly fight. Hm, interesting observation, huh?

Stallings Resident - You say that the Monroe Bypass has been on records for YEARS.

Yes this is SOOO true. So answer my question... why is the Stallings School built there? If the CARE (2300+ people) supporters for ANTI-18A, and for option 2 are so worried about "the children" then....why, why, why is that school at that corner? Did not some sort of permits need to approved by some form of the stallings town council or government body?

If Wyatt Dunn, Renee Hartis, and Mayor Paxton have the voices of "said reason" then where were those voices when this school was being placed at the corner of Stallings and Stevens Mill roads?

anonymous - you mentioned that 2300+ residents "have spoken." Well, all of these people are not ALL Stallings residents. 1 - I know for a fact that people in Indian Trail, Weddington, and Wesley Chapel all rec'd this notice from this group. They do not live in Stallings, they may have a Matthews mailing address, and may a concern, but they are not Stallings residents. 2 - if all of these people are so concerned about this project, then why did only 1 of the CARE people show up at last week's MUMPO meeting???

Interesting, huh?

I'm all for 'new type politics' if that means that three Carolina born and bred natives (Paxton, Dunn and Hartis) can actually listen and respond to their constituents regardless of where they originally were born. That is real democracy and true progress for Stallings!

Stallings Resident - did you not answer the question to why the school is there because you can not?? You can not argue the point. So the CARE group must not really care about the kids of the school.... They do not care about some of these kids for sure either route, since Forest Park's children attend the elementary school.

Also, I believe that Councilman Dunn suggested to purchase the opposite corner of Stevens Mill & Stallings Road. Why? Did the CARE group need another obstacle to place in 18A's path? Also, did I mention he wanted to purchase the property with TAX DOLLARS? If this is the new politics then you want, then no thanks!

As far as being Carolina born, that maybe true, but you forget about Thelma Privette or Al Graham? I am not sure about if Graham was born here, but I believe that he has some type of family connection with one of the original mayors of Stallings? Or did you fail to mention these people only because you do not like the way they vote or feel about an issue?

And if Mr. Dunn is SO-O proud of his Carolina southern Mint Hill heritage then why did he make a derogatory remark about "rednecks" in an email earlier this year. BTW - this email discussed town policy/business which makes it a public record.. Last time I checked, I am the public, so are you and anyone out there reading this.

So when you talk about "new type politics" that is fine, but at least do us the favor and tell the whole story, not just the part that suits who you support. WE carolina born bred rednecks or not carolina bred make up our own minds...

No need to answer Larry's neighbor's question on the shcool ...

There was nothing the council could have done to prohibit the school under the zoning laws. It is a right allowed with conditions in that particular zoning district.

If you are suggesting that they should have denied the zoning permit, forced the town into litigation with the county (and pay for both sides with our local and county tax dollars) while forcing hundreds of children to continue their education in a drastically overcrowded school made that way because of poor government decisions on both the local and county level --- then wow... you can keep your 'old style' politics.

To suggest that the CARE group does not care about the children of Forest Park is ludricous. CARE and others are trying to prevent the construction of yet ANOTHER major thoroughfare that would further dissect our town, that would greatly impact their school and surround their neighborhood on two sides with major traffic instead of just one side. CARE's desired option would also provide safer access to and from 74 than is currently (and which you certainly had to be aware of aware of when you bought your home).

Hmm... your point again was ???

I must say that i would rather have the 3 entrance exits to my neighborhood that i have now than to have it cut down to one that will greatly depleat emergency services ability to access the neighborhood especialy when there is a wreck or traffic jams which wiill happen under this little tunnel that they will have to go thru to cross 74 to get to the one exit in the new plan. And yes I think that the school should have been held up until this road was finalized. I that was too much trouble then they should have found a better site for the school. As it is now they have endangered these children already by putting this school on a road that is too narrow for two school buses to pass on safely, and by putting the entrance to the school so close to a non traffic light intersection allowing cars turning in and out not enough room to do so safely. I would also rather that this road be built in a place that would be away from were my children play outdoors all summer long during the hight of beach traffic so that I don;t have to worry about the fumes from exaust and the possibility of one of those cargo trucks crashing into my front yard and killing children at play in their own yard. At least at school they are indoors learning and breathing clean air. What you are wanting is for them to be prisoners at their own home.

LOL...there are several neighborhoods in our town that have 3 times that many homes with only 2 entrances and exits (in other words about 375 homes per exit).

Maybe so but they do not have the henderance of the commercial traffic of tractor trailors and all the employees of 15 to 20 businesses using the one entrance along with them.
