Candidates are welcome to provide their platforms. Poll voters are welcome to provide their comments why they support a certain candidate or why they may oppose a certain candidate. This election will be critical to Stallings' future -- all Stallings' citizens are welcome to take part and voice your opinions.

So Future at Stake do you live in Weddington or Stallings? Why a poll on both towns?

Do you actually even live in either town or are you one of those political wannabees who likes to meddle for fun?

Business will be crushed by Paxton...We will lose out if she remains Mayor. Look how many have left since she has been Mayor. Look how many have come here one, under here watch. NO PAXTON AND HER CRONIES!!

Annoyed Neighbor,

Guess it's business as usual in Stallings for those like you who spread fear tactics, accusations and innuendo.

Luckfully citizens didn't fall for those tactics in 2005 and informed citizens won't this year either. We are in a much better place now than we were 4 years ago!

Why would you leave Stallings? Town Council has had two tax decreases in a row. All other towns are going up or holding even after a tax revaluation. Lowest stormwater fee in the area. I vote with my pocketbook.

This is correct! One eye clinic only since she became mayor! Supports Jim Black with praise and the Town of Matthews. Does not support commercial corridors for Stallings. Fights with DOT and carves up Highway 74 and Stallings Road so that the south side of Stallings will be a thoroughfare for the rest of the commuters. Shame on her. She has got to go with the rest of her handpicked cronies.

The commercial tax base has got to increase to be able to lower taxes. With no respect for the business owners of Stallings and carving up Highway 74 and Stallings Road, the southern side of the town will be an absolute wipeout with traffic from commuters enjoying all the new roads while the residents of the north side are laughing at how Paxton sold out her town.

I've been trying to follow this bypass thing. I honestly don't understand why some people like that Barbara Ann woman and the former mayor think it would be better to add a whole new highway cutting up the town in a whole new area than to add an additional highway along an existing one.

People have complained that 74 dissects the town... well adding a bypass route other than along 74 through Stallings would just dissect the town further. How does that make sense?

Business can always relocate. You can't magically erase a new road.

Paxton has done a pretty good job overall. She should stay out of the police dept, they are big boys and girls and are held accountable to the public on their own.

But, she works hard, and who cares if she's in real estate. This might give her the advantage. At least her clients can be sure she would have a good clue to what parcels of real estate are being eyed for one thing or another.

The former mayor has her real estate license now as well. Don't fix it, if it ain't broke.

Maybe they own property in both towns. What do you care? Why did that get your stinger out of joint? We're all part of one county, paying taxes. Get over it

To Live in Stallings:
Saying "this is correct" is a clever way to make your post more believeable but that doesn't make it true. Mayor Paxton made an impressive Power Point presention to the Chamber several months ago on the commercial projects underway in Stallings. I checked my notes. In addition to the eye care center, there is an animal hospital, an office park by Trotter, a Walgreens, a Budget storage, and a beautiful European style shopping center on Weddington Road with a matching townhome component. I know Mayor Paxton attends a number of ribbon cuttings because she was recently at the Kumon in Stallings and Outdoor Creations. I've also heard that she is working with the turnpike staff to inform businesses dislocated by the bypass of available sites to encourage them to relocate in Stallings. That all sounds pretty pro business to me. The truth is most of the business in the 74 corridor wouldn't be approved for that location today. Let's be fair and present ALL the facts correctly.

Paxton is just reaping the rewards. many of these Projects, Walgreens, Budget Storage, Euro Shoppoing Center were all in the pipeline before she was mayor. She did nothing to Facilitate bring them in. She was actually more of a hinderance. As for trotter and the animal hospital she was so critical of them that they may up and leave and go to a neighboring community. Do not let her fool you, or should I say....Do not drink the Paxton Kool-Aid

Every single person that is elected will continue projects that have been started or squelch them. Most people only remember the here and now, not who sweated to get it.

Paxton is destroying the commercial tax base of Stallings for certain. She likes new "green" businesses. She could care less about the current tax base generated by the existing businesses on Highway 74 by supporting two 25 foot concrete barriers and twelve lanes of asphalt and now with her breaking the tie vote will make every business on Stallings Road disappear with a 23 foot median and four lanes plus turn lanes of asphalt. What about the current town hall/police department and the town park? Does this lady vote with her head up her head on straight or think it is cute to make comments about DOT like engineers are stupid? Town residents of Stallings will be in for a large tax increase to make up for the lost of revenue if they put this lax yahoo back in office. She needs to use her degree on her own head!

To say that Paxton is responsbile for the beautiful new shopping center on Weddington Road is hogwash. This way under the past land use plan and that town council had met and taken many steps to make sure the property could become a part of their town through annexation. This is not something Paxton did. She does not initiate anything for Stallings, only neighboring Mint Hill and Matthews. Where did the commercial on Idlewild go after she became mayor? What about downtown Stallings? Does she know how to sit and get new businesses to town - NO!

Typical of any election, opponents of incumbents cannot remember the bad decisions made by former Mayor. Our taxes went from $75 to $375 on a $150,000 home under Drake. I don't want to return to that kind of government.

They could go back to 75 a year if you wanted to get rid of the police department. I feel safe knowing we have our own police. Ho often do you see A union county Sherriff in Indian Trail??? Lose the police, yeah you get lower taxes, you also get increased crime, dropping tax rates on you house and less desirable neighbors.

I believe the town council voted to increase taxess and not the mayor unless the form of government was different under Drake's tenure! Plus only one person voted to not increase taxes for the police department. Would you be that sour graped individual? In addition for the tax rate you pay, look at what services you get. Our crime is of major concern. I vote to keep the police department and out with Paxton and her group of handpicked candidates.
