I vote for a beach cop directing traffic.

Obviously it's still King George County until just past that intersection, but it's Beachers and Beach visitors that are at risk.

Lower the speed limit to 25 mph or so for a quarter mile approaching that intersection, put in some rumble strips and once in a while set up a radar trap at Gitie's. At 25 mph people aren't going to get killed and it'll only add a minute to your trip.

A light would not be reasonable. If the highway department or city (whoever owns that section) would cut back the bushes and trees to allow the cars on 218, wanting to turn onto 205, to see traffic from the left this would solve the problem. This will also let northbound traffic to see cars entering the intersection better. As it stands you have to hope cars are not coming, because by the time you see one coming you are commited to going. The problem is not a busy intersection, it is not being able to see oncoming traffic.

The problem lies with those that pull out in a 55 MPH zone like they were on a Sunday drive and don't accelerate quickly. I have had to go around a car by crossing the solid line who did not accelerate and was trying to save gas I guess as that car pulled right out in front of me and drove slowly. When you pull out at that light, pull out like you mean it and don't stop accelerating til you reach that speed limit. Saving 10 cents worth of gas is not worth your life.

Well, I see the highway department followed through and cleaned up the bushes and vines that blocked the view. I wonder if this will put a rest to the $250,000 light discussion or if the money will be wasted to appease the family.

I hate that anyone losses their life, but we can't put a light at every intersection. If you can't navigate a stop sign you should not have a license. I say this having lost my grandmother to a MV accident and having seen the aftermath of this accident as i was driving to the Dahlgren.

A light will be the equivalent of using a sledge hammer to open a door when all you had to do was turn the knob. this intersection is NOT busy. It is NOT hard to make the turn without interupting traffic flow. With the foliage cut back it is no more dangerous than any other intersection. Please do not look to put a light there as a quarter million dollar memorial to lost lives.

I believe shrubs/bushes have been cut back... a big improvement!

A blinking caution light should suffice.
