There was a great account of a former Pentecostal who became an atheist. As a kid he was pushed to go on stage for the Holy Spirit. He kept worrying about talking in tongues and had been sick with himself for not doing it right. The pastor goes from youth to youth calling down the Holy Spirit. He notices the boy looking terrified and sweating bullets. As another boy is dancing and chanting he leans over and whispers to the boy... Just fake it, that's what we all do.

<quoted text>I would like you to entertain the thought that it could happen. Not everyone has the gift of 'speaking in tongues', I do. I am going to write down your poster name, and when I do my video, you will be the first... I've seen folks under the power of the 'Holy Spirit' is quite 'Amazing'... I know there are false prophets, but I also know there are some God ordained one as well. I have looked on line, and I can honestly say, that is not the way it happened to me.

IF what you say is true, that's just wrong! I have never seen anything in the way of forcing a child to do something like that.

The preacher will be accountable for his actions.

I was baptized a few years ago in the 'Holy Spirit' at age 21. I wasn't asking for this gift, it just happened (It nothing like what's on the internet)..
If this not had happened, I might seriously doubt the word as well. That's all I have to say...:)

So are you saying you do believe, or are you just making fun. I have seen this same thing, it's wonderfully cool. Then you know it's not made up, and from the Holy Spirit through God...
It is contrived, as if a performance. As a child, I saw the patterns. I saw the manipulations, and I have seen the hypocrisy. There is no god involved, it is mass hypnosis, similar to that fevered state which the jungle and native tribes, work themselves into. Regular as clockwork, and always timed so that they could all return home in time for the nightly news.

All of this is proof, that it is made up. My own mother had a particular chant she used when speaking in tongues. It never varied so much as a syllable. Over the decades, and in different churches the chant was the same, but occasionally an interpreter would step forward, propelled by god, to explain his message. It was always different, but what did these strangers know of yesterdays or last week's translation from god, of those exact same sounds.

"The Ryders were evangelists and Mr. Phillip had no time for evangelists. He did not like the way that people moved by the spirit of the Lord threw themselves to the ground shaking and frothing at the mouth like beasts.

He could not understand that, as the service came to a close, those same people could be seen politely shaking the preacher's hand as they left the church. He said the spirit of the lord cannot come and go in people so quickly." ~ Hortense Roberts.

correction to the above ^^ I left out a line.

This explains it very well >>> "The Ryders were evangelists and Mr.

My question is, if you have seen such 'Marvelous from God,' why do you not believe? God wants you back...:)
I have seen people who filled in the blanks. When they call upon the god, who promises anything that is asked in his name it shall be done, and it isn't, there is always a servant of the lord( spell caster, priest) who will show that the fault is with the person who has failed at delivering the prayer to buybull specifics, and not with the god who has again not kept his word.

First I would have to believe that there is a god, and then I would have to believe that I ever was it's, and then I would have to believe that I was some special prize, that it desired, and I would have to do this all the while knowing that prayers are not being answered , for children who need but the barest of sustenance to live just one more day.

Children like this one, who the photographer snapped this picture of, and ran on to a waiting plane, and then several months later this photographer commited suicide.

The gods are dead.

Add to all the above, that I would have to suspend rational thought to believe the bible, which I have read cover to cover, and more than once. And that is why I am a non-believer.

Note: No woman wore pants at our church. That was a man's attire, dresses only, they rode up so much better when the woman was struck down by the lord.
For the guys it was good as porn. Imagine dresses below the knee, no elbows showing, and no, none, not a inch of cleavage, ever!

You know RP with the experiences that you have had, you know better than most what the 'Power of God' can do. It has never been a routine with me. It's prayer, and then 'Power.' God also gives 'Wisdom' for those who seek diligently.' That would be me.
I see that I should go back to my Christian Forum, as I am not welcome here, and that's okay.
I will answer everyone's last question, then go... If anyone ever has a question about God, I'll be easy to find... Love in Christ... SL
ps RP, God is never going to let you go. I 'll be around for a time, if you need me... You may PM me anytime...:)
Well, I appreciate the offer, but I doubt in this millennia, that I will be falling to my knees to call upon the god of the bible "Jehovah", whom I have discovered long ago, to be both Yahweh" the god of the Jews, and "Allah" the Islamic god, too.

The Christains, and the Islamic prophets and power brokers have tweaked Yahweh to their own specifications, and as" Yahweh" he sanctions the "rape as marriage" penile violation of a girl aged three years and one day. As Allah, he sanctions the oral, anal, and vaginal penetration of newborn boys and girls, by certain men of the family. The father grand father, uncles, etc. All can rape any child, without consequence. It is called thighing. As Jehovah, he sends his warriors out to raid, rape, murder and rob, and then to keep any virginal girls as sex slaves, the rest are raped and killed.

The Abrahamic god is a tool by which the penis is wielded against the poor and weak. That god is the god of the male genitalia, and it is as anti-female, and anti-human, and anti-family a monster as could be.

And that god has no more sway in my life, than does the gods of the Hindu, or the gods of the Norse peoples, or any other of man's god-tools.

Stick around, why not get to know who we really are?

I have seen it in probably a dozen churches. I have seen it in many homes, and in many prayer meetings, by not only prechers, but parents and others as well. It is as common as is Sunday dinner on the grounds at a southern church.

Hugh Marjoe Ross Gortner, "Marjoe Gortner", charismatic, funny, another blast from the past, and unfortunately a true story of just one more god-myth used to empty the wallet of the gullible. It's been awhile, I wonder what he is doing now.

Ah, but it doesn't prove the zombie god real, no matter who tries to eliminate cognizant thought from their children's minds, by using fear tactics.

It was his parents that pushed him into doing it as he was of the age.

Pretty damn funny though the Pentecostal preacher just telling him to fake it :))
