Import/Export (NAFTA - a.k.a free trade)- how about equal trade instead?

- Apply import/export taxes equivalent to those placed on USA goods to all foreign goods (this includes China - if America sells a doll for $10 and other countries charge a tax of $1 to import it - That country may choose to export dolls to the USA at a cost of $1 per doll - to keep things even, that doll must have a tax that puts it's overall price even with equivalent American exports, so the tax would be $10)- wanna make America competitive again, wanna bring them jobs back to America, wanna get them countries to increase their wages, we have our hands on their necks, all we have to do is start squeezing. Wanna bring 100s of thousands of jobs back to the USA?-Keep innovation in the USA. For every country that decides that they want to outsource their engineering, science, manufacturing, etc. Apply stiff penalties or heavy taxes. Americans are very capable of doing these jobs and they should be kept in America (the boom place for this type of work right now is India and China). I'm sure there is more to add.

Public Works

- These should be limited and prioritized. For one city, they should have a list of public works that require addressing. Work 1 job at a time. The times of tearing up 20 streets within 1 city and working on 1, 1X per month needs to stop. Bring focus to the public works. Don't put lights where they don't belong. If you build walking trails, then light them up as you build them, not after you've already built them. Plan works prior to doing them. No more, "we forgot to put in the cables for the lights, gonna have to dig-r-up again". This is unnecessary expense. A little planning can save us a lot of money. No more 5 guys standing around a hole, while 1 guy digs. Everyone get a shovel and start digging. Cut out the BS and start getting some actual supervision going on.

Immigration reform (Illegals)

Enforce border security. Stop building fences. We have many BP agents that patrol the country internally. Move them all to the border. 1 agent per 1/4 mile over 2000 mile stretch of the mexican border 24 hrs/day, 7 days per week can be covered by 33,600 agents. Legalize the ones that are already here, so that you don't have to do all the internal patrolling by the BP, local police, state police, etc.(this is wasted money as well). The ones that are already here, you penalize for 2-3 yrs, by taxing their income at 25-30% levels (no exceptions, no child tax credits, no nothing). Use your resources correctly. BP should be protecting the border (hence the name "BORDER PATROL"). Local cops should be helping the people. This is a long and drawn out one too.

Local Law Enforcement

- Focus on the core problems (murder, rape, theft, gang activity, etc). We spend so much time, money and effort patrolling the streets looking for speeders. This seems like a waste of useful resources. Speeding will take place forever, unless we start putting little receivers in cars that receive signals from local speed posted transmitters that allow the vehicle to run no more than set speed. Although speeding 20 mph over the speed limit could prove to be dangerous. It is very much dependent on the situation. 30 mph above the speed limit in the middle of the desert on a very straight strip of deserted road is probably not very dangerous. Seems like a refocus is in order. We did not hire you to watch everyone's little every move. We hired you to keep us save from things that threaten our lives on a daily basis. We did not hire you to put up speed traps, cameras and the like so that you can RAISE MONEY. We already provide you with money. No need for REVENUE ENHANCEMENT ZONES.

Foreign Policy

- This is very simple. We are friendly to countries who are friendly to us. We do not go kiss up to the Saudis, or the Iraqis or anyone else. We help countries that are seriously trying to promote freedom. We do not help countries that support drug trade, oppression of people, human rights violations, etc (this includes Mexico). We don't try to change the whole world just 'cause they think a little differently than we do. We help those who ask for help. We leave those alone who don't need our help. We still continue to draw intelligence on WMD and things like that. This is a difficult one in that knowing where to draw the line is hard.

Drugs

- Either legalize them or make sure that the borders are really being protected using the latest and greatest sensing technology. We may put sensors along the entire border to tell us if anything is trying to cross into the USA. May be something as simple as a fence with electrical power flowing through it (here we go with fences). In reality, sensors to sense drugs and people are not out of this world. Expecting that the American people are just going to stop using drugs is a pipe dream. If you legalize the drugs, it hits a couple of areas. You are allowed to tax the drugs heavily 80% of the cost is tax. You stop the drug violence across the border (no profit). We run a legal operation. The users will continue using them. The people who don't use today, will not use even if they are sold at the corner QuickieMart. There are costs associated either way. Trying to keep them out seems to be more costly. Letting them in will yield a profit. Some people may drug their lives away quickly and will no longer be a problem. W/r to medical costs. If you choose to be a drug user, you automatically pay 25-50% more for insurance. Again, a very long an nasty one.

Housing Market

- Put up new rules that do not allow for the shenanigans that were going on to bring about the BUBBLE. On all homes where people are upside down. Either make the banks bring the loan to a reasonable size or let them simply lose their home. No more artificially inflating the price of houses. No more the realtor's friend is an appraiser and they agree on a price so that the bank can lend XXX money.

Businesses

- Very simple. If they cannot afford to stay in business they go out of business. No bailouts. No govt help, regardless of the size of the institution. You run your business, you should have money set aside in case hard times come along. If you run your business strictly on credit, then there will be problems.

These are just a few areas that require attention at this moment.

My apologize for the lengthy post.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Taurus

The current planetary influences tend to make everyone groan a bit. Life is not perfect and may be less pleasant than usual, but what can you do? Get real for one thing! That's the way it is and once you accept this, everything becomes much easier to handle. Be solid and dutiful - qualities for which the Bull is renowned - and you'll come out the other side with your halo polished. Focus on some undeveloped potential in your life and take the first steps towards realising it.
