St Thomas, Virgin Islands, U.S. |
It was awesome to have the Disney ship pull in! This will be one of many, kudos! However, it was far more a disgrace to have our local F'sted vagrants sitting on the park benches spitting at the feet of tourists( I think he thought I was a tourist...) SPITTING LOOGIES as people walked by...how disgusting! But, we as Crucians or Crucian-wanna-be's can't seem to curtail the local decisive actions of those who feel they deserve more of a glorious life by reparation than by participation. We are shunned, and we on STX deserve it. If we as a people can not provide courtesy and decency, then we have failed. If it is our custom to allow such minor displays of disrespect, then we are double doomed. Bring ALL the ships you want, but we will not have ANYONE returning to spend quality time here. Just give up now. The local businesses are right...it's been like this for 14 years, so why think or believe in a positive change. Frederiksted, close your doors now!!! Move to Christiansted, or at least get a vendor's booth there...they don't let people spit OR pee in the street there...maybe y'all can afford your bills if you are not battling for common decency.
Our administration should be embarrassed by the "local" Disney welcome wagon...YUK! |

St. Croix has struggled for a number of years to get the Cruise Ships to come to visit her ports. I am ashamed to hear of such behaviors. I just returned from a Cruise to Bermuda on the Royal Caribbean, and the locals were very polite and did everything they could so visitors could come back to their country. I guess they understand economics better than us Virgin Islanders. We as Virgin Islanders have to do a better job in taking care of the island, keeping it clean and maintaining that rich heritage; therefore, making it presentable so people can visit. Again, St. Croix is a beautiful Island with a very rich heritage and we have to preserve that rich heritage by training our local people on how to behave and treat the visitors to include our selves with the utmost respect. We have to go back to the old St. Croix in other for things to get better. Also the Administration has to understand that the USVI does not only consist of St. Thomas only. We have to promote all three islands and shear the resources evenly. I no longer reside in St. Croix, but St. Croix will always be my home and I am doing my part to promote the USVI. The rest is up to the Administration and the local folks to show the visitors a good time. Folks it is about the money and we can learn a few things from the rest of the other islands such as Jamaica, Bermuda, etc and do a better job in promoting the USVI. God bless.
