The high cost of American health care is due to government regulations. Part of this is lawsuits and part is government requirements for health providers.
Expiration dates on US medicines is just one example. Health care providers are forced to dispose of out of date medicines even though they are still good. The government requires drug manufacturers to set the expiration dates and these drug companies set the dates far short of the true lifespan of the drugs. This makes drugs more costly and the public gets higher health care costs.

You are completely wrong . Almost all medications are not only ineffective but cause so many serious side effects that most people going to doctors are going there because of side effects caused by medications (unbeknownst to them). The pharmaceutical companies are the richest most powerful companies in the world and they have the power to keep the truth about their drugs hidden from the public and from MDs. Most suits against drug companies are settled confidentially out of court preventing the public from becoming aware of the lack of effectiveness of drugs and the hazards.Tort reform is like trying to save money by letting criminals out of jail . It should be illegal for plaintiffs to get confidential settlements because it allows the drug companies to continue to harm us with their products . Dont reply by writing that diabetics would die without insulin . Speaking of diabetics most are type two and less than ten percent of diabetics take insulin . Also recent research shows that drugs for type two diabetes actually shorten life span.
