As someone who loves crabbing and has a Degree in Chemistry, I find it grossly irresponsible for a local reporter to even print the old wife's tale of using WD-40 as a fish or crab attractant as it is derived from crude oil and is quite flammable. Do we really need to poison the fragile ecosystem of a coastal marsh as well as local fish and crabs with more petroleum chemicals by suggesting to the public that it might possibly catch a few more? From this article, people's curiosity is aroused to see if it will work. According to the MSDS Haz Data sheet, WD-40 can cause irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea when ingested. Sound safe for what we are catching to eat? Sure works well for many other purposes, however.
