I posted this in the wrong place before. Can anyone tell me exactly where the Parker Grade School was located in the fifties?
Thanks,
Debbie

Debbie,
As I recall from some research in the past I've done, the Parker Grade school was located on N. Ludlow Ave, near the ravine.
The school property was on the east side of the street.

The grade school was on Ludlow St. It was on the right side of the street going north, before the ravine. Big two story brick bldg, One through sixth grade. Went to school there..

I am just curious about your interest in the school. You are from Annapolis MD. I live in Cambridge MD on the Eastern Shore and went to that school as a child. It is beautiful now and very nice for those living there.

Linda,
I went to school in the 1960's at the Parker Grade School...do I know you by chance? The grade school was on Ludlow street in the 1950's, my cousins went to it before it relocated to the top of the hill.

I also went to the Parker Grade School...late 40s - early fifties...it had a big tube fire escape that went the outside of the building...my dad was janitor so my brother and I spent many FUN summer days sliding down it...for any of you that attended at that time...you'll remember one of the teachers that got STUCK in the bend of it during a fire drill...MADE OUR DAY..aah memories.

I went to the Parker grade school in the 50's and 60's. It was a red brick building on Ludlow St. After it was torn down a house was built there. We used to go over after school to the play ground which consisted of a big swing set and a maypole. We used to crawl up the fire escape that was a big tube at the side of the building and would slide down. The old Parker HighSchool burned down and then a few years later The new elementary school was built there on top of the hill. Yes the elementary school is now a nursing home.

I went to the Parker grade School in the 70's when it was on the top of the hill. But I do remember the old one and the tube slide. I can't believe the nursing home is not there anymore, I heard they had to shut down, I had relatives that stayed there and it was very nice.

The grade school on top of the Hill is now reopened into a nursing home. the old shool was located right below the hill on the corner> there is now a doublewide trailor that is located where the old school used to be.

I also went to Parker Grade School in the early 60's and remember the fire escape that was awesome. We lived in the big 3 story white house right by the school. It is still there. I remember during the summers my friends and sister and brother would climb up on th one roof overlooking the playground and open the window and explore the school and just sit on the roof and talk. Also the year that JFK was shot I was playing in the playground when they came out and had us stop playing to tel us the president had been shot. At the time it was very traumatic and have remembered it all these years.
I now live in Naselle, Washington
