I have been seeing either a man or two different woman at the intersection of Hwy 94 and O'Fallon holding a cardboard sign. It says they are a homeless family needing help. The women are always in pajama pants. In a way I feel sorry for them and in a way I feel like it might be a scam. The area where this intersection is I don't see a way for a homeless person to live around it. Anyone know what the deal is????

Next time you see the woman, park your car, safely I might add, approach the woman and ask her what the deal is, question asked and answered.

I can tell you what the deal is. St.Charles County has no homeless shelters or help available for anyone. My brother has been living in a truck with his disabled son for going on two years. I can't provide housing as I have 3 children and 2 grandchildren living with me. We have been to every agency over and over and no one out here can direct him to any help or a place to live. We are educated people and my parents moved to Ofallon in 1964 when there was nothing out here but at least you could live. My brother has a degree but at 52 is having no luck with finding a job. It is a travesty that the golden triangle in St. Charles county does not provide for it's poor. They are the hidden people. Look real close and you may find them sleeping in parking lots in their car or staying all day in the library. My brother lives in fear that he will be mugged or chased off from the parking lots in Walmart. When are the officals in Ofallon going to open up their eyes and recognize that there are people in this town that need help? There aren't even any places they can go in cold and hot weather. The one place there is closes at 3pm.

Folks, I'm one person who says get a job slimging shxt if you have too- but there really aren't any options for those who fall behind in st Charles county. No buses for those who don't have cars or have unreliable cars either. I don't want my tax dollars taking care of people who don't want to work, I also don't mind giving a hand up to those who do- this county is laking any real options for those who need a boost. Hell- I'll take a bus if they provide it!

Well said HMM-I am in no way advocating for people who won't work but there are instances when people become ill and lose a house or job and can't find one fast enough. I also don't think people should hold signs on the street but I do think St.Charles County has an obligation to offer some type of shelter for those who are homeless. What about the children who are living in cars and the mentally disabled. There are extreme cases and they should have somewhere besides the streets to go for shelter.

I agree that we should have something here in St. Charles Co. It would be nice if the city planners got together to provide at least a shelter. The participants could help build it.

I wonder how many people are one or two paychecks from eneding out in the cold in this county. I was unemployed for 11 months but had savings to get me through. I know of people that if their income ended tomorrow, they would be out on the streets within a few months.

As for the people at O'Fallon and 94. I have seen them get dropped off in a SUV. They might have cars and cell phones, but I wonder if they have enough to pay rent.. Cell phones are cheap and with prepay, you don't need much. They probably all three live in the SUV.

Yes, i pass this intersection on my way to work and have passed her many times. I have stopped and talked to her. She has 2 kids, they are staying in a hotel. I bought them extra soaps, backpack, and lotions I had and asked what else she needed. She said gift card. Every time I see either one, they have a cigarette hanging out there mouth.
My mom works on 94, and about a week ago saw her getting arrested in the QT parking lot.
I don't know why they live in a hotel, or why they do not have jobs. I just feel bad for the poor kids

Yes, this lady has 2 children and they live out of a hotel. I pass her on my way to work- the one wearing pjs. I have given her a backpack full of soaps and lotions and asked what else she needed.she said gift card, but I would rather get her something so she doesn't go blow the money on cigarettes or whatever. Seems like every time I see her or husband they have cigarettes hanging out of their mouths.
Recently, the lady was in the QT parking lot being arrested... Well put into the back of the cop car. I don't know if the man works or what the story is. Pretty sure she doesn't, just cause I see her there almost everyday.

Almost all homeless are homeless because of alcohol or drug abuse or both. Because of their addiction they can't keep a job or pay the bills and lose their home and family. Not much anybody can do about it, Unless they want help. And if they do the help is there for them. If you give them money it will go straight to the Corner liquor store or the drug dealer.

To who it may concern. Several weeks ago I observed a homeless man on the south side of hwy 40-64 @ 94 which may explain the dead campfire I found at the Angie Housman murder site near there. On March 29th the day of the search for Bahia Bisharat I told the crowd I would check that area. To my surprise there was a dead campfire there. It takes an effort to get to that site now with all the overgrowth. Why would a homeless man pick that particular out of the way spot ? Or was it the suspect revisiting the crime scene. Maybe a hidden camera will solve this 21 year old crime.

There are jobs out there. If your brother has a degree he could easily walk into a management position at McDonalds making 35k per year with being its and work his way up. Pride is the only thing keeping him from a job. I'm fine with giving a temporary hand up to people but I believe they should be tested for drugs, alcohol, and even nicotine. I don't want to pay for those. Some would rather be lazy and play victim than swallow their pride and get a job, even if its not glamorous and work their way up.
