My family went to an easter egg hunt at Fleet Park yesterday, it was nice to see that many families in one of our parks. What's up with the graffiti on the fence though?

I have lived in St. Charles Hills for a long time, and I am glad to say I'm getting out. Too many hoosiers that just don't care. Why can't people in the neighborhood have a nice fence?? Do the people who make the rules want to keep the place from looking respectable? Its just a bunch of politics.

Actually the people who make the rules tried to pass new ones that would have allowed people to improve the look of their properties and would have enforced a standard of appearance much nicer than we currently have. That measure failed to pass because too many residents didn't read the new indentures fully, or were unwilling to be accountable for their own property. "You can't tell us to paint/cut grass/cover my car" and so on. "This isn't Ladue" and "if you want to live in a nice place, move" were common comments in the open forums discussing the proposed indentures. It's not politics that is keeping the neighborhood from improving, it's the residents unwillingness to have open minds and actually listen.

My wife and I are thinking of putting a contract on a house off of St. Babette, realtor isn't sure if the indentures are current. Can I put up a decent looking fence or what?

I just saw on the subdivision website that we're 34 grand behind, is $50 a year really that much to ask? I pay mine every year, and eventually it'll have to go up just to make up the difference from the freeloaders. Pay your bills deadbeats!
I hear the trustees want to go door to door and collect past assessments. Some of the people in our subdivision owe a lot of money.

How much are we paying for the company that drives over the parks with the lawnmowers, yet doesn't cut hardly any grass? What a waste of money. They mowed the other day and the white flowers were all still there!

Does anybody know which trustee is leaving this term? I see that the next meeting we'll be replacing one of them, I hope it's one of the two snotty ass women who think their S*** don't stink.

So I guess we're all going to have to pay extra because of all the deadbeats in the subdivision not paying, I guess that's the American way!

I grew up in St. Charles Hills. We moved into the house right after it was built. People took such good care of their homes and their yards then. They did until about 15 - 20 years ago. Then, it started to go down hill. My parents sold their home 5 years ago and they had taken such good care of the place. The yard was beautiful and weed free and I was through there a year ago and felt like crying to see how awful it looks. No one seems to care much anymore. I rent a place and take better care of the property than some home-owners do.

A couple years ago an attempt was made to raise the bar in the subdivision, but many of the older residents and most of the lesser educated ones were against the idea. People didn't want to be told to maintain their yards, trim their trees or take care of their fences. Most people don't want to spend the money to replace their fences with chain link, since it's chain link and will look like crap. The subdivision is an embarrassment now, when I give people directions to my house, I try and take them off of cave springs, I don't want them driving through the neighboring subdivisions and seeing the nice neighborhoods before driving through StC Hills and seeing the 40 year old uneven landscaping work, the piles of crap in people's car ports, and the broken garage doors.

My sister just moved into this subdivision, her neighbors keep their house nice, but the people on the end of the street just have crap stacked in their carport and up against the side of their house. The fence is falling down and looks like crap. She asked if she could put up a vinyl fence and they told her the only fencing allowed was chain link, yeah chain link! WTH, are you kidding me? People go out of their way to NOT buy houses with cheap looking chain link fences.

Looking for indentures for Somerset Hill Subdivision of St Charles. Mo. 63303. Every place I have been ends in a dead end. No help from trustees as I was told it is not their job.

I've lived in this subdivision for 44 years. One of my original neighbors said it best, way back then, when he said, "You can drop an Atomic Bomb on this subdivision and still not kill all the hoosiers." Hooray for absentee landlords. Hooray for federal programs. You made us what we are today.
