St Charles County approached Wentzville, O'fallon, St. Peters, and St. Charles City in an effort to consolidate Police dispatching services. The plan would require each City to pay St Charles county a fee for the unified system, the small city of Lake St Louis would be liable for about $25000 per year, St Peters nearly $60000 and O'fallon would be nearly $80000 per year they would all pay according to their population. Each city would have to pay to link up to a fiber optic cable system to towers, an additional cost nearing $20000 per year.
All 911 land lines would have to be redirected to St Charles County, new ordinances would be required to adopt the system, and allow for no new construction of tall buildings that possibly would interfere with the towers or the contractor would have to perform mitigation to eliminate interference.
This sounds like a good deal for the County to control their cost and control ALL communication systems, but we the tax payers would now be required to shoulder the cost.
Most of the cities are reevaluating this costly plan that promises to not only be expensive but also complicated as well.
The cost over runs would also require for additional manpower, for each city, for securing each police department building and prisoner housing.

It sure sounds like a bad idea to me, why do they have to do it, what's the purpose?

I just learned that the City of Lake St. Louis Police Department will soon fire all of the departments dispatchers. The police will soon be dispatched by the St Charles County sheriffs department. Why?
There seems to be a large tax deficit coming into the city. If this is the case why then are projects costing millions of dollars being instituted. The termination of employees after these many costly programs is inexcusable and the Board of Alderman needs to be held accountable for these shortfalls.
A tax rate increase was passed by voter approval by just a few votes. The mayor won his election by 6 votes, the vast case of public acquiescence is responsible for the mess we are in.
