And I can think of one big nickel to be squeezed: the Central Corridor. Unbelievable how this newspaper and specifically this editorial page lectures us peasants about the hard economic choices ahead, but continues to promote the ridiculous boondoggle they want to run down University Avenue. Exactly how much money are the usual suspects paying you for your "opinion"? It'd be fun to get a close look at your accounts.

And then you'll be riding up and down the Central Corridor and conveniently forgetting that you once called it a "boondoggle." Or, when the PP happens to opined in favor of your political views, I'm sure you'll conveniently forget someone of your persuasion must have paid them something. And then it'll truly "unbelievable." Funny, seems to me you're an equal "usual suspect" in these comment sections yourself!

You drive these roads, you expect police, fire, the sewer system, the street lights to work for you, and you even have family and friends who are government workers that provide basic services on a daily basis, or are members of all kinds of unions that fought to keep their wages and families in place...but at the same time, you will wish for world where those things are somehow provided by free enterprise and the private sector...or, were paid for by....aliens fron outer space? No, they're paid for by you, and all of us, taxpayers. And you enjoy it everyday while fighting against it everyday. Let's see you get stubborn.

If there had actually been a vote on the Central Corridor plan, I suspect the turnout would have been higher.
The mayoral race was uninspiring: incumbent milktoast legacy democrat vs inexperienced republican puppet
School board doesn't seem to matter one way or the other. Instant runoff? If it doesn't work can just put another referendum on the ballot to squash it.
Plus it was cold and rainy outside...

So are you a member of the newspaper guild or one of the non-union types down at the Pioneer Press? Will you be getting a bonus for your intrepid work on Topix today?

No, but that's the typical paranoia coming from folks like you who have no other place to spew your kind of politics...other than the PP comment sections.

Rereading you, Sanders, if you don't work for the Pioneer Press, you should. You have intelligence and flair. Something that's usually lacking around here! If I knew you, I'd buy you a cup of coffee.

St. Paul Repugs in these comments sections aren't used to having anyone seriously challenging their remarks...so I thought I'd weigh in a little just for fun. What's your beef, oh Sinclair oh Lewis?

What's your beef, oh Sinclair oh Lewis? "Repug"? As in "Republican"? Are you serious? I'm the last of my kind: a good old-fashioned anarchist-syndicalist. One big union, one big strike. And no coffee for you, sport.

I guess some people in this country still have the luxury to be "anarchist-syndalist " and hang out at coffee shops. Try living in underdeveloped country for a few months on $1/day, or a rundown neighborhood in urban America without a job...and see reality for what it is.

Not defensive, merely answering your post. No, I don't have the luxury, I actually have to work, support my family, those little things in life.
As for underdeveloped countries and rundown neighborhoods: I've been there, I've done that.
As you become more obvious, I have to ask: how much is Mikey paying you for your efforts? Are things that sad and slow downtown? "Have a nice day".

Most people who live from hand to mouth, whether it's here in the U.S. or in some underdveloped country...simply do not have the luxury to dwell on such political abstractions such as being "anarchist-syndicalist ". It's a luxury only some can actually afford to contemplate, much less practice. Even after truly experiencing what life is really like in underdeveloped countries and rundown neighborhoods, as you claimed to have done, it's amazing how it hasn't changed your outlook a bit on the things we take granted in this country. And, paranoia must be getting the best of you these days...that anyone who challenges your worldview must be the imaginary "Mikeys" that are obviously out to get you by paying someone? Who and what are you talking about?

Sanders,
What is your point? Your ramblings on underdeveloped countries?
How is this related to a big choo choo train?
Yes I have a home along University ave that will be effected. There will be less businesses because the city will be be buying hubs for passengers to board choo choo train. So less businesses means less tax dollars and my home property taxes gp up again.
All for a big choo choo train!

Obviously Lewis Sinclair understood what the ramblings on underdeveloped world is all about, being the self described "anarchist-syndicalist ", whom, if true to his ideals, will probably benefit the most from all the union jobs the light rail will call for. Who knows, perhaps one day when your property on University will double in value due the project, maybe you can refuse it because you were never in favor of it in the first place? Better yet, maybe you will forever boycott riding the choo choo train in front of your property, which is your choice, and your right. Wait, you're Pat from Blaine but have a home on University Ave? Hopefully not slumlord.

Sanders,
So how many years should I wait for my property to double in value. 100 years maybe. I will be long gone by then.
How about this? You buy my property at current fair market value. You agree to this and I'll pay appraisal and closing costs. My property is not a slum but it is nice condition. Garage could use new shingles but other than that it is a fabulous interior with new carpets / bathroom / kitchens and boilers.
Then you can profit on the big choo choo train!
Personally I do not see how living by a choo choo train increases property values but maybe you read those government projections and actually beleive.
So what is it put up sit down!!

No one is stopping you from leaving your property vacant, sell it, or leave the area entirely, Pat from Blaine! What's the address? I'm sure someone will take it off your hands and then they can deal with the choo train...which you vowed never to ride (and when you do, I'm sure you'll around to see if anyone notices your hypocrisy).
