1.Credit to the F/As!! Bravo and good work!
2. The smoke alarm worked as advertised:
"I fell asleep and I woke up to beeping,"
3. The trash can does have a fire extinguisher, but the fire wasn't in the trash can.
4. The fire was probably arson since it was in an area that has no fire starting source.
5. No cigarette buts were found in the debris.
I think we should wait for the full report to jump to conclusions.
Is George Bush still president? It's gotta be his fault.

Funny how #1"Credit to the F/As!! Bravo and good work!"

Gotta credit the f/a not only for putting the fire out, but for setting it also!

And the cleaners, were what in your world, locked out or on strike?
Did they show up for work? If not, then they must have went on strike. If the workers would have shown up for work, NWA would have let them work.

Hmm. I don't remember NWA being cited by any regulatory authority for any illegal acts. Was it just illegal in your mind according to your vast legal knowledge?

Hmmmmmmm, had the mechanics not been illegally locked out, they would not have received unemployment compensation.

<quoted text>New or not, they still require maintenance. But being wholly owned by nwa... makes this is very questionable ???????? Nwa only flies airplanes... someone else is paid to fix them ! Nine bucks and hour doesn't buy much more than a quick look, and back to the break room. Soon someone else's airplane will hit a gate, and that same little block signer will have to take care of their logbook. 9 bucks an hour doesn't buy much more than a pen, and quick look. In today's world, flying by a Compass... isn't good enough. So, no we won't wait for the NTSB, we'll go with nwa's risky maintenance practices. 4000 plus mechs out the door, 1200 logbook trained replacements, speaks for itself !
We can agree with that with no dispute. The ilegal lockout of our technicians has resulted in untold loses for Northwest and harm to all the employees. We do need them back. No ifs ands or buts.

Wrong!!SCABAIR told them their jobs were eliminated and handed over to the iam and outsourced..This was as well as over 75% of the mechanics jobs..

SCABAIR seems to skate on a lot of legal issues..The court did over rule SCABAIR on calling it a STRIKE..They overruled the inital court as wrong to allow unemployment to the cleaners at the outset and deny the mechanics the same ruling..Both the mechanics and the cleaners circumstances of the lockout were identical. If the lower court had done their job correctly the mechanics would have started recieving unemployment in AUG 05..As it was we all recieved full unemployment backpay to day one in NOv 06

That's not going to happen. Besides if nwa did bring them back, they would withhold the unemployment they were paid from their checks. LOL,,, You know they'd think about don't you?

Show up for work they did, cept NWA Managers collected their I.D. Badges, so they couldn't Work; that Mr. Contango is a 'Lock-Out'.. and yes hrs. later, after the fact, AMFA called for a legal Strike, which the RLA spelled out in their Govt. Rules, was indeed Very Legal to do .. and Mr. Steenland made sure that AMFA's Strike took place, per his Instructions.. ANY QUESTIONS ??

so lets turn this into a smokers bitchfest. bottom line is that a fire broke out on an airliner with people on board. had it spread, and folks died, this would have been a tragedy. whether it was a smoker, or happened on its own is remained to be seen. in 22 years of flying, i have had dozens of inflight incidents with smokers who set off the restroom alarms, and put hundreds of lives in danger. i never had an alarm or smoke in the lavatory on its own. hmmmm.
What were they smoking?
