Wickhard admits he has not touched the roof situation at any time in the 25 years he's owned the building, and then has the balls to comment on the tenants'low income status as a hardship factor. What a cheap dufus.
That's why the city needs to step up and be more assertive on elemental housing safety issues. And that includes matters where the tenants are the source of harmful practices as well.

Just another Slum Lord.

Make him live in the building until its either fixed, or torn down and rebuilt.

Same old same old. An owner "hasn't touched the roof" and probably everything else in 25 years. Why would anyone? Improve your property and your punished by paying higher property taxes. This dud(e) has a 13 unit apartment valued at 333,000. If this building is primarily one bedrooms/studios in fair to good condition it would be valued over 700,000 and taxed as such.

Guess government holding their hands isnt enough, they also need it to wipe their asses too. This is America. Get up off your ass, and make life what you want it to be.

That house looked like it had a lot of tamarack wood in it, that stuff is like balsa wood after all these years. Places like that should not be sold to anybody, 100 years old houses should be razed. The slumlord has made his money many times over.

Really, are you always filled with that level of hate or are you having a good day? Have you ever known anyone who's lost everything they own due to something beyond their control? Did you tell them 'Tough luck, losers. You didn't try hard enough'. What a hard, empty heart you have.

No according to the news no one showed up at there shelter or what ever .. its not about money.. what its about are the little things .. Like pictures of you kids or your grandkids .. somthing you got that reminds you of your dead mother or sister .. those are the things that could NEVER BE REPLACED!! Get a life loser

There's an old adage, "What goes up, comes down." A 100-year-old building is no exception. To blame the landlord is unjust; he bought the building and tried to make a go of it. There are so many improbabilties with ownership of such buildings, I know because I owned one. It's a wonder it's still standing. Not only age, but carpenters, roofers, electicians and plumbers over the years leave their mark, not always for the good of the building. It's a pig in a poke hiring tradesmen- property owner beware. I lucked out and my former building still stands.

Clearly, you are ignoring life before the roof collapsed. If your definition of hate is calling a spade a spade, they you should sick your head in a hole in the ground.

30 years ago people were ashamed to be on public assistance. Now, its the easy way out. Who wants to work for $10 an hour doing manual labor all day when you can get section 8 housing, food stamps, and cash for free from the government.

Keep living in your bubble, and ignore the 1000 pound elephant in the room. Sooner or later it will crush you, and we will all be spared of your idiotic takes.
