God bless Gaby's family. Hopefully the healing can begin.

Michael Santoya seems more like some kind of animal that you take out in the field and shoot.

It's great Michael was convicted for taking advantage of his friend, Gaby, and putting her through a long, painful, torturous night.

But, I still wish she were alive today. She was a single mom trying to raise her kids, and find some guy she could have a greater connection with. And it is just so so sad that she's gone, and that her trust was misplaced on this guy who obviously cared little for her and quite possibly wanted revenge for something Gaby either said or did when the two of them were kids.

Today, justice was served, but tomorrow, Gaby is still lost forever.

Not only is the lawyer playing the "blame the victim card" you have Frank Rodriguez running his yap to the Romo family. Fat Frank should shut his trap. Come by the House anytime? What a punk, I hope something like what happened to Gaby happens to someone close to you. Your best buddy got what he deserved for being a long time thug. His brothers can't help him now. He hung his head and cried after the verdict was read because he knows that all too soon he's going to be jail house currency.

Now Mike can sit in jail and think of what he did, whether he think it wrong or not...Think long and hard Mike, as you have alot of time to do so...Try having that kind of sex with an inmate and see how far you get!!!

My heart and prayers go out to all of the good and decent people who's lives have been touched by this incomprehensible evil; especially the children. I lost a friend at a tender age and she left three children behind. They are adults now and still battle with the loss of their mother each and every day. I know that Gaby's family will be there for the children. I know that they still have their father; but it's just not the same as a mother's love.

I pray that the family members caring for the children receive the blessing of guidance from their mother in heaven. That Gaby is able to reach down and touch her children through those who are caring for them. That her children will always know that while their mother is not physically with them, her beautiful spirit and smile is beaming and that they can always and forever feel her light shining down upon them from heaven.

God speed to you all.

I agree. Similarly, the victim's family would want to take out anger on the defendant if he had been acquitted.
The only information I know about this tragedy is what I've read through the Pioneer Press...and it seems there are many, many folks who have been posting on here that are intimantly familiar with the two individuals. It's apparent that the victim is leaving behind a lot of very supportive friends....and is also apparent the this guy is some piece of ....
But, is it not possible that the two were having consensual sex, albeit rather extreme, and that the injuries that occurred were accidental? I am not saying that that is the case-- just saying that I am suprised that I haven't seen it brought up on this message board.
even if at the beginning the sex or intent or going home together was consensual, explain then all of the other injuries she sustained... i dont think you thought this one through. it became violent either before or during the sex. no one will ever know.

By other injuries I am referring to the bruises on her arms and contusions on her head, from what dr McGee described as a beating.

How nice it was of the oh-so-classy Sontoya Family to spend so much of their money trying to get their dear boy Michael off the hook for murder. And even nicer that it failed. Don't worry Sontoyas: the Commissioner of Corrections will take care of your sweet son, for the rest of his days. And I hope Sontoya's affiliates, who are so busy threatening the victim's family, are dealt with properly by the police, despite the fact that Sontoya's to brothers have wormed their way into local law enforcement.

I knew both Gaby and Mike and my family is related to FJ. I am happy that Mike was convicted for what he did. I feel terrible for all the children involved this is something that shouldve never happened. I see the hurt that it has caused alot of people. I see the pain that the whole west side is in the Romo's and all. I am watching this and hope someday that it will go away but I also know that more is going to come and might not be good. I hope it doesnt. As to FJ, yes he has been in trouble and yest he is a big guy but he is HURTING to. He is normally really sweet but he has no right to do what he is doing to the Romo's. He needs to let it be. Mike was always mellow to us but Gabi DIDNT DESERVE to die and he is wrong. My heart goes out to all the children involved and the Romo's. RIP Gabi you will never be forgotten.

If you know or have some insider scoop of "more things to come" I would encourage you to call the police and tell of all u know... and hurting, schmurtin, NO excuse for threatening the family. Its quite representative of the term birds of a feather. God I don't miss the west side one bit. I so easily could have been caught up living that lifestyle.....gross. I like to think the good outweighs the bad....

I want to say bless the whole Romo family and all her cousins and friends during this healing process. Gaby was a sweet young lady and always had a smile on her face and said hi to you and she will be missed. and for Mike have fun in prison for the rest of your life and hope you get treated like you treated her. you can take that homecoming crown and shuff it up your A"" and see how that feels.

Because that's the mentality of today's criminal element. They're worthless scum-bags who feel entitled to do whatever they want and if something goes wrong, too bad. It's the victims fault. How dare we hold Sontoya accountable for his actions?
And by the way, Dr. McGee is one of the most respected doctors in his field and Torres' pathetic attempt to call his tesimony into question was laughable. Justice has been served.

Isn't it unusual to sentance so quickly? Glad they are doing it tomorrow, but don't they usually wait awhile. Maybe because like someone else said it's a no brainer, life w/o.
Torres better not try a mistrial because of the hall tussle thing
When the verdict is guilty of 1st degree murder, there is only one sentence available, life in prison. There is no need for the usually six week Presentence Investigation. The judge only has one sentence available, therefore, no need to await sentencing.
