St. Paul: Bicycle boulevard plan for Charles Avenue jolts business owners
The Holcomb-Henry-Boom-Purcell Funeral Home has sat on the southeast corner of Charles and Snelling avenues since 1916, and owners Richard and Sharon Purcell are happy to keep up the century-old tradition of catering to the dearly departed.

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Push an inconvenience upon one of the city's most established businesses and people mourning the loss of a loved one for the sake of the 4 or 5 bicyclists who might use that route each day and create more confusion for drivers, and probably more accidents.
I hope the funeral home sues the pants off ivory tower public-paid pie-in-the-sky thinkers who foisted this idea on the neighborhood. These folks can't see the forest for the tree they're living atop.
And if the funeral home tosses up its hands and moves to the suburbs, like so many smart businesses do, we'll have the mayor wringing his hands and offering handouts to attract businesses to St. Paul. Wake up Mr. Mayor, it's easier and cheaper (for taxpayers) to keep the businesses you have rather than push them out and try to lure new ones in.
Someone needs to put a stop to the silly, frivilous, nonsensical spending of taxpayers' hard earned money.
