Crownpoint hospital limits hours, services

Emergency services are limited at the Crownpoint hospital until further notice, due to an "acute shortage" of technical staff.

What happened to all the Training supposedly absorbed by Navajo Health Workers, Health Board and Navajo Tribal Council. Were the suppose to apply the knowledged gained to a situation of this sort?
Another thing is that if a Crownpoint patient goes to Gallup Indian Medical Center, GIMC will refer the patient right back to the agency where they live in. GIMC is refusing to accept other agency patients, although the patient prefers GIMC because of variety of services offered.

Crownpoint is a remote place is just an excuse. The real problem here the medical facility in Crownpoint lacks leadership. It looks like Olson was caught sleeping on the job.

my ex wife was the ER room supervisor ther when we were married since she left it has fallen apart at the seams she had a whole waiting list of people from all over the country wanting to work there the supervisors are not as cool and hard working as she is. the tribe has lost a true freind of the tribe when she left she really cared for the community and people she served

I had worked at the Crownpoint facility and it is a shame that this has to happen. I am not native american ,however I grew to love the people and the traditions they hold. I do hope this is resolved soon. When I was there I could see the problems and it seems they have just went downhill. I think I know who the ER supervisor was that ponee talkes about and yes she was an important part of the ER.

In the mean time where are we to go when we have an emergency? The health-care for Navajo's in that area is so pathetic.

I gots some solution. Make the pay competetive! If the pay is addequate you can recruit and keep quality employees. If you lowball, you have to take what you can get. It is a shame to think of all the lives that will be lost because intervention cannot be given during evenings and weekends. just don't have a cardiac event, asthma, or low blood sugar during those times. one life is too much. how much is that life worth. who is to be held accountable and who will have to compensate the family members? food for thought... If you have a family member who is about to die anyway, take them there first. when its closed call 911 from a pay phone there. Then you can sue them for about a million per family member minus legal fees. Yay Crownpoint!!!

It makes sense, The NPD out of Crownpoint dont respond to emergency calls for hours and now there is no Emergency room for medical issues.
