"St. Marys will pay up to $20,850 for a study to determine the savings should it consolidate its fire department with that of Camden County"

Does anyone have a list of all studies conducted in the last decade, the amounts and the results?

Now, now. You are going to question the govrnement that was elected by the citizens to spend money on needless studies with no benefit to any one except the one doing the needless study. It is the system. Study it for ever and a day and it is not the issue for the time being. OUt of sight out of mind. We had many worthless studines on parking, little theater, boat house, etc. It is the way our elected officals work. Did it ever occur to you that we must like it that way? We put them in office. May be we can hire some one to study why we keep perpetuating the problem.

I say they may need to do a study to see why they are such screw ups and why in the hell did they run for office if they are to scared to do the right thing. or
just hire a consulting firm and fire the city manager council and mayor.Heck these firms are doing all the work. Pay all these studies with their pay. Why did they pay a city manager 100g+, gives him free city car,ect...

Speaking of consultants:

The spoon:

A lesson on how consultants can make a difference in an organization. Very Impressive!

Last week, we took some friends to a new restaurant,'Steve's Place,' and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket. It seemed a little strange. When the busboy brought our water and utensils, I observed that he also had a spoon in his shirt pocket. Then I looked around and saw that all the staff had spoons in their pockets. When the waiter came back to serve our soup I inquired,'Why the spoon?''Well,'he explained,'the restaurant's owner hired Andersen Consulting to revamp all of our processes. After several months of analysis, they concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil. It represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. If our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift.'

As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he replaced it with his spare.'I'll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of making an extra trip to get it right now.' I was impressed.

I also noticed that there was a string hanging out of the waiter's fly. Looking around, I saw that all of the waiters had the same string hanging from their flies. So, before he walked off, I asked the waiter,'Excuse me, but can you tell me why you have that string right there?' "Oh, certainly!' Then he lowered his voice.'Not everyone is so observant. That consulting firm I mentioned also learned that we can save time in the restroom. By tying this string to the tip of our you-know-what, we can pull it out without touching it and eliminate the need to wash our hands, shortening the time spent in the restroom by 76.39%.

I asked quietly,'After you get it out, how do you put it back?''Well,' he whispered,'I don't know about the others, but I use the spoon.'

I knew there had to be a catch to it before I got through the first line of the second paragraph:....we took some friends.....

"we" - you and CJ? Or does Jay keep a mouse in his pocket?

"some friends" - Jay brags about not having any friends and preferring it that way.

I think he's already started his campaign. He's showing that he has a sense of humor and a human side.

I will admit, he would be better than what we now have.

What happened to the "Study" that recommended St. Marys leave the county and start it's own fire department a few decades ago?

That study does not meet their needs now so they will restudy it until its in what they want the study to say.
That has to be the 7 worthless people I have ever seen run any city.
I just hope their parents are not proud.
