CCW or not?

I have long considered applying, but somehow never get around to it. Does anyone have experience in which the CCW saved them or a family member? Or would have? If a bad guy is holding a gun on you, what good is your CCW? Quick draw looks good on TV. There are at least 2 Floridians (Dunn & Zimmerman) who probably wish they never had a CCW. Thoughts?

You misjudge me again. I actually agree with some of your posts though obviously not this one. I am a gun owner (2 shotguns, 2 .22 rifles, 2.5 handguns with one incomplete) but I have no personal need for an AR or AK. And I do not feel naked without tactical clothing. Agree with Biden in that a shotgun is the ideal home defense weapon. In some local neighborhoods, firing a shotgun in the air would go unnoticed. I am not anti-2nd but I am anti-fanatic whether it be guns, politics, religion etc. CCW?

Jorge, if you want to go about this world totally incapable of protecting yourself and your loved ones when you are outside of your home, that is your choice.

My only request is that if you find you and your family cowering at gunpoint awaiting execution and spy an armed citizen about to blow your would be executioner's head off, PLEASE give him a sign that you would rather you and your family be slaughtered on principle.

Why is it so hard to simply answer the question, "Does anyone have experience in which the CCW saved them or a family member? Or would have?"

I am almost 80. I am a gun owner. I do not have a CCW because I have no need or desire to carry a weapon. I have a loaded gun readily available should I need it at home. Neither I nor anyone in my family has ever had occasion to use a gun to save anyone. Neither have we had an instance in which a crime was committed which could have been prevented by a CCW or by use of or threat with a gun.

Current laws allow CCP to law abiding citizens. If you want one or feel the need you can get one if you meet all criteria. People have different reasons for wanting to get a CCP. I can understand why you do not feel the need.

Ah, finally some rational replies (Anon & Airman). Yet Anon gets attacked for not attacking me. I thought I asked a reasonable question but the NRA fringes revealed themselves. You can be a gun owner without being a "gun nut." The NRA does not represent ALL gun owners. I see the big advantage of CCW as the bad guys knowing that there are good guys out there, but not knowing who is carrying. A downside the crazies who have not yet been identified. The medical profession is worried more about HIPAA than a crazy on the loose. Anon is the only one who actually answered the original question.

Most of the time there is no "reason" to be found here. There is almost never common ground to be found. This is pure entertainment. Very little of anything else.

BTW, a GA WCP is not just for guns. It allows you to carry other weapons also.

I have no argument with your desire for a carry permit. It is none of my business. I(f I ever felt the need for one, I would get it too.
