"After SWAT negotiations, a Gainesville man was arrested early Wednesday for allegedly shooting at utility workers.

Donald Josh Deal, 62, is in the Hall County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault.

A Jackson EMC electrical crew was working to restore power that had been knocked out by fallen trees when they were fired upon around midnight, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. The workers, who were not injured, fled and called 911. They told authorities that as they were assessing the problem, an armed man came out of his residence and cursed and threatened them before firing at least two shots in their direction.

Authorities went to the scene in the 4200 block of Holland Drive, where deputies ordered Deal to exit his residence to be taken into custody. When he refused, SWAT commanders were called in to negotiate, the sheriff’s office said. Deal left the home around 2 a.m. and was arrested without incident.

Deal’s bond has not yet been set, pending his first court appearance."

Fortunately, the utility workers or law enforcement were not shot and killed.

It's past time to get guns out of our homes and communities folks. All they do is KILL. And we've all had enough of that.

How many more crimes were stopped do to guns being in the house ..... do ya think?

Yeah, someone who'll shoot at JPL employees dosn't need to have ANY firearms.

Does that mean I should have my firearms removed as well?

And here's what happens when Dem's create and tend a flock of beholding dependents via the "Great Society" and successor redistribution campaigns:

So, you see, the solution is not to get guns out o our homes, but Commie-Lib Dems out of our legislatures, our White House, our governor's mansions, off of our judicial benches and out of our classroms. In short, America needs their complete and utter political annihilation

Lose nut behind the gun caused the problem. He would have used some other method had he not owned a gun. Down in Jamaica man they use the machete and do a lot of damage to an unsuspecting soul. Others prefer gasoline. sprayed in the face and set a fire. If someone wants to harm another they have unlimited ways to act. Take away the guns like they did in the United Kingdom and they use bombs. And in Spain they use a knife. Remove the guns and more problems will surface.

In 2000, 1.2 million abortions were performed, in 2005, 1.3 million abortions are performed, in 2010, 1.2 million abortions were performed.

In 2011, there were 3,000 people killed with guns.

Let's calculate: with 1.2 million babies killed every year, that comes to 3287 babies killed everyday.

With 3,000 people killed a year with guns, that comes to about 8 people a day.

Killing someone with a gun is a choice of a nut case, but killing an unborn baby is a choice too...which ones kills more?

more research and facts
A study done by the Justice Department in 1999 analyzed the 1994 "Assault Weapons" ban and concluded it did nothing to reduce crime or shootings. The Justice Department stated,“The ban has failed to reduce the average number of victims per gun-murder incident or multiple-gunshot wound victims.

According to FBI data, U.S. murders dropped nearly 40% to 14,478 in 2010 -- a significant drop from 23,440 in 1990 -- even as the overall population grew by 24 percent!

Many nations that have given up their rights to gun ownership have suffered by the hand of their own government shortly thereafter. Over 170,000,000 (that's one hundred and seventy million) human beings have been slaughtered by their governments in the 20th Century after they gave up their guns.

A 1993 nationwide survey of 4,977 households found that over the previous five years, at least 0.5% of households had members who had used a gun for defense during a situation in which they thought someone "almost certainly would have been killed" if they "had not used a gun for protection." Applied to the U.S. population, this amounts to 162,000 such incidents per year. This figure excludes all "military service, police work, or work as a security guard.
From the following:
Paper: "Armed Resistance to Crime: The Prevalence and Nature of Self-Defense with a Gun." By Gary Kleck and Marc Gertz. Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology, Fall 1995. http://www.law.northwestern.edu/jclc/backissu...

Based on survey data from the U.S. Department of Justice, roughly 5,340,000 violent crimes were committed in the United States during 2008. These include simple/aggravated assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, and murders. Of these, 8% were committed by offenders visibly armed with a gun.

Based on survey data from a 2000 study published in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology, U.S. civilians use guns to defend themselves and others from crime at least 989,883 times per year.

A 1997 survey of more than 18,000 prison inmates found that among those serving time for a violent crime, "30% of State offenders and 35% of Federal offenders carried a firearm when committing the crime...again, criminals commit crime with guns.

During the years in which the D.C. handgun ban and trigger lock law was in effect, the Washington, D.C. murder rate averaged 73% higher than it was at the outset of the law, while the U.S. murder rate averaged 11% lower.

1,200,000 divided by 365 a year = 3287 ( and some change) people a day.

3,000 divided by 365 a year = 8.21 people a day

now, explain how that is wrong?

So Amazing, tell us more:

New gun regulations and laws are coming, that's a given. After they pass numerous court tests and are affirmed, if called for, local police may have to go to individual residents, sign for and collect certain guns for safekeeping, destruction, or whatever the law calls for.

What you're saying if this all happens is you'll stay in your home and shoot dead any St. Marys or Kingsland Police officer coming to your home to enforce the law, right?

You're willing to kill a member of our community doing their job just so you can have and keep some dangerous possessions, right?

You'll sacrifice and end your own life in doing so and certainly ruin the lives of your family just for possessions, right?

Not to mention the impact to the family of the law enforcement officer doing his or her job, right?

Is that what you're saying? If not, then tell us what because that's what it sounded like. And if so, you and others who feel this way (i.e., nuts) don't appear stable enough to have guns in the first place.

The victim part I am speaking of (since you want to make it sound like everyone is unstable)is the perps that break into your homes or carjack you for your personal property. If gun laws are passed that restrict my right to defend myself I no longer belong in this country. But of course Realists are way more stable than Liberals. That is why I know that nothing good is coming either way the coin is flipped.

Not so amazing, the guns i have in my home right now were paid with my money and was ok to purchase.
I will say that as soon as you get them to stop protecting the white house with guns ill stop protecting mine with them.Yet if turning in all guns is the best why would SMPD,KPD should need guns either right?
I have my guns to protect my house. and yes I will use them if have to.

That's quite something. Sad too. You'd sacrifice the life of a law enforcement officer(s), yourself, even your family, all for what? A mere possession. An inanimate object. A hunk of plastic, wood and steel. Wow! Perhaps you should reconsider your values in life. I wish you well and for change.
