Can't wait until the next episode of this comedy!!! When is it, the 20th? The first episode was funny beyond belief.
I'm happy for you that you're so amused by having to fund this council's insanity. Based on his fees for the last four and a half months, the city attorney will make over $155,000 from the St. Marys taxpayers in one year. That really gives you the giggles, huh?
Actually the funniest thing was watching DeLoughy (dark shades and all) storm into the courthouse with Moore and Shanahan only to be made to sit on a bench for a couple of hours while the rest left after deciding to wait for the incoming jury to be seated. The staff at the courthouse had no idea why the mayor and his henchmen were there (in that they wouldn't be allowed in chambers anyway) and so they let them "cool their heels" for a while.
"Funny beyond belief"? Yeah, Deb, that part of it was. The needless cost to the taxpayers is less amusing. Now let's throw the price of a "mediator" into the mix. Now THAT cracks me up!

155,000 bucks????? To pay for councils legal-eagle water-boy???? Lets mediate their butts out of city hall. What have they cost us so far with their ideations, real estate ventures, airport agendas, paranoia and stupidity? And now I have to pay for a shrink for these jacked up losers? Gimme a break!

I think they should let Jay Moreno be their mediator. Surely he has some kind of degree to do that and he would do it for free.

Brilliant! We could sell tickets to offset the price of the attorney and mediator!

Hay: I have a better Idea, let Rick Rogers do the work. They all fall in the same kind of mold. They are all feed on chicken poop. See what it has done for Jay.

The following statement apears in a letter-to-the-editor in today's T&G:

Guilty or not, something’s
very wrong when the
mayor and city council have
an elderly woman thrown
out of a council meeting and
deny her free speech.

Could one of you rabid loons tell me the name of that woman ( not that I can't guess) and the date of the meeting so that I can pull up the video?

CREATE A CRISIS THEN EXPLOIT IT FOR PERSONAL GAIN.
The tourest director firing and the out of control CVB all proceeded the vicious attacks on individual council members and the ill advised and baseless petition. The petition smacks of a "plea for mercy since I am an ophern" coming from the child who murdered his parents.

YOUR ENEMY IS MY FRIEND. The book ends side with the CVB because they have issues of their own, are a minority on council and feel isolated.

CONFLITC OF INTEREST. When a member of a government body votes on a public issue when he has a personal financial interest riding on the outcome. An excellent example would be when a council member votes on any issue before council that involves a contract between himself and the city.

Best practice would be to avoid the APPEARANCE OF A CONFLICT OF INTEREST by not contracting with the the city if you are a city council member.

Hilarious, Jay. You can manage to spell Machiavellian but not tourism or conflict?

I wish Swamp Rats could bet. I would bet all my future pay checks and give 10 to one odds the idiots will get less satisfaction on their next trip to Woodbine than they did on the first trip. The mayor has nothing to worry about. chill out.
My only regret is the pititioners are causing the city to needlessly spend money. They really don't need to. But then again, the entertainment value is worth it.

In what sense are the "pititioners" causing the city to spend money? That's DeLoughy's stupidity. Yes, the case will be heard. They are assured of that. Spend a little time doing the research, the damning evidence is all there for anyone who cares to spend the time and money getting it.
By the way, how do you feel about the Mayor wanting to spend your money on a mediator for council? Now THERE'S a sign of effective leadership. LMAO
