Not really, I had no idea. Please tell me it was OK to spend some or the $3,000,000.00 on entertainment, Zumba lessons, elaborant dinners and drinks for our members and "special" seniors.

It was not OK and ignorance is no excuse. It may be time to lawyer up.
If all money wrongfully spent is paid back the courts will take that into consideration.

"retirement of general obliglation of general bond 11,000,000"

Tommy.

Do the words water and sewer" appear anywhere in that quote? They did not appear on the ballot either.

No one EVER said the SPLOST VII would go to water/sewer debt retirement. Some Topix, irrational hotheads irrationally demanded that but fortunately better minds on council did not make that mistake.

The "new debt" that is mystifying you came from the refinancing.

I'm glad you are attending meetings now but apparently you were not back when Chuck Traitor explained that in great detail.

I have no desire to pick a personal fight with you.
However, your "facts" are not always factual.

By the way, you sound rather like you are planning to run for council. Do you actually live in St. Marys?

"St. Marys City Manager
Steve Crowell said the lionís
share of the cityís SPLOST
VII funds, if renewed, will go
toward paying down the cityís
water and sewer debt.
Crowell said an estimated
12.1 percent of SPLOST is
collected from people who
live outside Camden County.
Based on estimates of
SPLOST collections, this
would equal a property tax
millage of five to nine mills,
he said.
The previous SPLOST
was used for roads and sidewalks,
drainage projects, city
facilities and water/sewer improvements.
SPLOST VII would earmark
62 percent of revenues,
or approximately $11 million,
toward paying down the cityís
debt on a general obligation
bond it used to expand its
water/sewer capacity several
years ago.
The city also has included
$4.3 million in infrastructure
improvements and $2.5 million
in heavy equipment replacement
in the SPLOST
VII project list that voters will
consider next month."

Now the truth is in what the council will do now that they've lead the electorate to believe what City Manager Crowell told the voters.

Lets just hope they make wise decisions on this and retrieving audits of taxpayers money from the Hospital Authority.

The solution to this is much simpler than people make it seem. Turn the money from the sale of the old hospital over to the city to satisfy the law. Then keep the Hospital Authority intact to over see the Senior Center and it's activities. All salaries and expenses for the Senior Center will be paid by the Hospital Authority so that the city has no future taxpayers money involved. That way the law is satisfied, city gets its money and saves money in the future, the Hospital Authority and Senior Center is left intact, and the Spencer's can shut the hell up.

Where would the HA get it's funding after turning over its money to the city.

I am sure the city will enjoy taking care of paying for indigent care. This sounds like an opening for a new department at City Hall, "Office of Indigent Medical Care".

It is my understanding that the money given to the Hospital Authority for the sale of the Convalescent Center was much less than the 3.7 million they now have.

Solution is........build a homeless center on the boat house site. Just think, every homeless person on the east coast would be here in a couple of weeks, just what St. Marys needs........

"Everyone" said it. You have even posted Morresy's comments.
It may not have said it on the ballot but it did not say you were whacky either.

1st off, all "ALL" the money would go for indigent care.
2nd, yes a quick change of name from Hospital Authority to Indigent Care Authority along with a charter redrafting and new board members would be quite possible and legal.

Well why is Jason not at the hospital? 3 newspapers reported this all started when Jason could not get on the Authority. It was also stated by someone at the council meeting. Jeremy had the opportunity to dispute it and he did not say a word.
