May not have to worry about the train. Owner is talking about pulling up the tacks.

95% of the waterfront acreage you mentioned is wetlands/marshland.
A port on St. Marys River or North River will never happen. Bookmarkit.
Ever hear of variances? Permits are issued routinely for projects such as this. The deepening and widening of the Savannah river was excused for that project. North river could be dredged, straightened, and widened to develop a port on the mill site. Best possible use of this property. as for the ENDANGERED birds nesting there, that could be handled like the Ospreys that nested atop the lights at the old Army pier at kings Bay, the Navy built platforms atop tall poles to accomodate the birds so the lights could be taken down. This project could, and should happen. Too much negativity here!
PS, a protest should begin against removing the tracks to the mill site.

If St. Marys does not get something that generates good jobs it may verywell immolate in the near future. And take the entire county along with it.

What would cost more money Rail Road Tracks (tressel) across North River and put the port on Point Peter or just dredge out North River ?
Do not say it can't be accomplished because it can. 22 twenty two miles up the Savannah River so far and wanting to go another 10 miles more. Over in New Orleans they crossed lake Pontchartrain with a tressel and a bridge for cars ( I-10).
If you are correct in $27 Million it would be a small price for a port.
it wont ever happen.

Create public work projects get America back to work. This project could be done with private money. $275 Million Dollar project. Plus jobs after it is complete. This is a winner.

Might want to take a look at the numbers in this preliminary study from 2004. The idea was to evaluate alternatives to the Savannah project.

Looked into your report. St. Marys was not considered at all even though we have a 500 foot wide 52 feet deep channel at the entrance of the St. Marys River. If the people making the report had looked at St. Marys they would have seen we are the best suited for the job. Our dredging is minimal we only need a turning basin.
This is where our people in the JDA need to get involved. This report is flawed.

Now, don't be so hasty.

The same shoring up of the supports for the dais they would have to do for a Mayor Davis would obviate the need for doing it for me in the future. It might be more economical to put in the wheelchair ramp from the executive session room, through the city seal wall and up to the dais at the same time.

Actually, given the slope requirements for a ramp and the size of the meeting room, a hydraulic lift (readily available commercially) would be far more practical.

I can't wait until the election cycle arrives when Mr. Moreno joins the race for Mayor. It will no doubt be one of the most entertaining periods in the history of St. Marys.

The candidate forums will be especially enlightening. It does not take much to set this Bouncing Betty off.

Why would Camden County ever be able to manage a seaport if it was given to them. You have an AIR PORT that could create high paying engineering jobs and you want to close that.

You are surrounded by Aviation Manufacturing companies in Jacksonville, Savannah and Charleston, yet you can not see the forest through the trees.

I guess if you cant mount knobby tires on something or go fishing in something then it does not register to the people in power here.

Great visionairies in power.

Mr. Townie you have a very good point that is why we need to have consolidation. St. Marys can't pour piss out of a boot !

Rumor is that Chuck Trader wants the sewage plant named after him. Boy is proud of the poop plant it made him a lot of money when he went for pay the interest only deal and got his kickback from the bond company.

If the Bond Company had done their job St. Marys would have never gotten the bond in the first place. I blame the bond company for make the loan.
