I tried ST Marys for the first time last week. To be honest, the only bad thing I could say is that the place was a little loud and they don't have many healthy side options. Everything we tried was really good but wasnt crazy about the coconut shrimp. But, I am not really a fan of coconut, so that may have been the issue. Just not the healthiest of foods to have on a daily basis. More vegetable options would rectify that issue. The staff were extremely helpful and very personable. I have read the blog and havent commented before because I wanted to try the place for myself. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but maybe try the place out before you criticize it. Then whatever you have to say about it will ACTUALLY have some value and won't be just the opinions of people that really have no idea what they are talking about.

Umm, let me quess: bean sprouts and tofu? Or perhaps tofu pressed into seafood shaped molds, scooped out, steamed, and served as "tofishy?"

Give me a break. It's Southern FRIED seafod, for Chrissake.

And how many of us go to a seafood restaurant "daily?" Lighten up and LIVE!

Eating vegan crap does not really make you live longer - it just seems longer!

Hmmm, ACTUALLY... I was thinking like steamed Broccoli or steamed veggies to go with my shrimp, chicken, and potato. Tofu is disgusting and I am by no means vegetarian. And correct me if I am wrong but, NOT ALL SEAFOOD IS FRIED!!!!!!! I simply stated my opinion just like you have. Sooooooo, who exactly needs to lighten up???

Relax there killer!

All AUTHENTIC SOUTHERN seafood IS fried, with the exception of a good low country boil, boiled shrimp, boiled crabs, and steamed oysters ("oyster roast" is a misnomer.)

By the way, I'm sure the owners of St. Marys Seafood and More are aware of this thread so here's a suggestion.

Your deviled crabs are good but not as good as they could be and not quite the way we make 'em down south. They're just a bit on the bland, colorless side.

Solution: Per one cup (you can scale it up) of your current crab filling mixture, add 1 teaspoon of finely minced (i.e., food processed) raw, green bellpepper. The frying will cook them just right.

Also, add 1 teaspoon of ground paprika, a pinch of sea salt ( in lieu- not in addition to - any iodized salt you are using now), and a pinch of cayene pepper.

Adjust amounts to taste.

Trust me on this.

Moreno Jay was nothing more than a hamburger flipper at the height of his culinary career. He never held a meaningful restaurant job more than a year.

He thinks he is the next Food Network Star. If you want your food to taste like Aunt B's, follow his advice.

I have had Aunt B's and I have enjoyed St. Marys Seafood and More's seafood. There is no comparison. SMS&M rules.

"Differnet", huh? I see that the "cyber bot" allowed you to type the word "idiot" this time. Too bad you can't master spell-check.

Well, wellwell. Guess what showed up in my deviled crabs at SMSF&M tonight?

Yep, finely minced, green, bell peppers and just a hint of cayenne pepper. Much better. Thank you.

Now just ad the paprika and you'll have the perfect deviled crab.

Their crab bisque is excellent. For the benefit of you uptight, hardshell loons who are convinced that alcohol passing your lips will send your soul caroming off ointo Hell, what really makes it is just a hint of sherry. Of course, by the time it comes to your table, all of the alcohol is cooked off but you loons can never be too careful.

There were two guys at the bar enjoying drinks and quiet conversation. A survey of the room showed only two tables imbibing alcohol. A man and his wife each had one beer. A woman at another table was having one of those tall, frfuity, girly drinks while her husband had tea. I observed no rowdiness nor anyone being sucked into the underworld to their eternal damnation.

I was heartened to see a car in the lot on my way out with a bumper sticker that read "We attend the Church of God." Right on, Brothers and Sisters!

When one of the owners stopped by my table as I was about to leave, I complimented and thankied him for the fact that my food had unmistakably been fried in oil that had been put into the Fryolator new that day. He confirmed it had and said they change out the oil every other day. Excellent! Trust me, not all seafood restaurants do.

Psst..idiot. I am talking FOOD.....as in the seafood prepared at SMS&M vs the seafood prepared at Aunt B's.

I am not talking about buildings, kitchens, tables and chairs, i.e. restaurants.

Is that too difficult for you to grasp?

If you can figure it out, you can go to the actual report on Aunt B's or any other restaurant and see what the inspector actually wrote.
You might also want to note the date of the insoection. Local restaurants are only inspected about once every six-months.
Here's the shocking truth about Aunt B's:
1: They keepo their sugar for their iced tea in a big,40 gallon plastic can. Everyone knows it si sugar, but - horros - it did nothave a label on kit that said "sugar." Why hell, it could have been "cyanide!"
2: I'm sure you've seen the ladies roll out the little cart with the back up pans of items for the salad bar.
Horror or horrors, they don't have a Dymo lable on the pan full of tomatoes that says "tomatoes." Can you imagine the danger this subjects the public to? Oh,the humanity.
Right on ladies - riduculous bureacratic crap SHOULD be resisted!
Everyone should be patient and not so critical. The owner is sick and hopefully will recover soon.
