It's time to hold our elected officials accountable.

With Splost 7 approved annual payments of 1.83 million from the splost fund will be directed into retiring the bond debt.

The City Council with the advice of the highly paid consulting team has made this promise to the voters of St. Marys.

Lets demand an open book on every splost penny spent, right up to the next election.

If the disbursement records are not made public, at city council meetings, for example, you can be sure that the SPLOST revenue will be squandered.

Personally, I would like to have palm trees and landscaping placed in the median of St. Marys Road in front of our beloved Osprey Cove.

I'm sure the Gals over at the Tribune, being such strong proponets of splost, would love to post the achievements of splost 7 quarterly.

They could place a detailed quarterly finacial report somewhere between the sex offenders and felons.

Screw the quarterly reports DEMAND them ever other monday what was spent where and where was it voted on by council.

Now its time to hold council to their word the only council person that told the truth was Bird. Jim Gant and the mayor said water fees nor taxes would go up if SPLOST 7 was passed.
I just cant believe 61% of this county is for higher taxes.

"I just cant believe 61% of this county is for higher taxes."

No 61 % of the county had enough sense to ignore Jeremy Spencer, et al, and vote for what they clearly recognized as being in their best interests, passing SPLOST VII, Jeremy Spencer's cynical political calculus be damned

This is nothing new, splost has been around for many years and the voters must see some benefit from it. However the government must be held accountable for how this money is spent.

It is most distrubing that the City Council is not to be trusted in the handling of tax dollars. So far their record of fiscal responsibilty is a joke. That don't run the City like it is a business. They don't make business decisions that any other busniess would make in these worst of economic times. They don't accept responsibility and delegate the business to committees and/or to an employee to come up with nothing of substance. We did not elect committees. You would think they would task the City Manager with implementing programs and projects that have some merit. Bottom is they don't.

More accurately, 61% of the 4600 county residents who turned out to vote. I was in & out of Union Hall in less than 5 mins.

61% of such a small turn out means nothing. Most opponents new from the start it was a lose-lose proposition.

The majority of voters that showed up were either frightened of a miliage hike, had a hand in the special interest slush fund or like you who will always vote for a tax.

I was unaware your favorite politician Jeremy actually held an office. In the coming years if the current elected officials continue to plunder the splost funds there will be plenty of available seats on the City Council for Jeremy.

No they let the council use fear of higher taxes to get them to vote it in. Look at Gkynn,Coffee,Ware, and Appling counties, they all voted it down and not the first millage raise in any of the but for BOE.Every counties and cities MADE the right cuts in spending.

Now I cant think of any of kingsland woodbine or county begging like Jim Gant was. I hope ya enjoy spending that extra money
but Im willing to bet right now at the end of this 4 year SPLOST STM will still owe over 35 million on this sewer bond

Yes, perhaps he will run city government like a biology class.

As in Chucky Trader trying to run the water/sewer debt like a middle schooler. Another "Moreno the Idiot" quote.

The city, by building a double size sewage treatment plant, has us by the nuts you stupid SOB. Of course we will jump at any opportunity to lessen the water bills and property tax increases we are bound to have thrust upon us. You want to personalize everything to denigrate all of your enemies, the Spencer brothers being the target of your hate as of late.

You are a pitiful, hateful man, Moreno. Put that .45 in your mouth and do us all a favor.

One could only hope that the dumb son-of-a-bitch does decide to eat a bullet one night while hovering over his keyboard and goes into one of his Alex Kearns hate fits. He will decide that slobbering all over the keyboard about her is useless and take the plunge. WOULD YOU PEOPLE REALLY MISS THAT ASSHOLE? I SAY NAY NAY!!

Having written this last evening, it bothered me all night. It was a terrible thing to say (even though I didn't say to pull the trigger). That said, I wish topix had a means to delete posts that people had second thoughts about. Believe me, my Momma taught me better. I apologize. I'm sorry and I regret typing it.

It's all about things Moreno said about me and those I love many months ago. I've got to let it go.

As far as this part of the post goes, I stand by it. We have got to vote out the "spend and tax" councilors at city hall.
