"With the other added they are expecting a turnout of closer to 35% with a majority of them being republicans who have traditionally voted down SPLOST." So please explain how SPLOSTs have been overwhelmingly approved by the citizens of Camden for almost 30 years.
Has anything different happened in the last six years other then an economy meltdown? Oh ya, local governments still spending millions on pet projects while the rest of us fight to make ends meet.

If you think you're fighting to make ends meet now, just wait. If SPLOST VII is voted down you'll be fighting twice as hard.

Splost ain't passing. No sir, we are Not voting to keep this tax. The parasites on top know it too. They are sounding the alarm trying to scare folks into passing this.

Now it will be interesting to see if they will deliver on the threat to hike up property tax/water rates. It's going to be polical suicide if they try.

I strongly suspect that your assertion that Republicans have traditionally voted down SPLOST in Camden is ass backwards.

I feel quiter confident tha the majority of homeowners in Camden are Republicans.

Why would a homeowner vote AGAINST his own interests by voting against SPLOST?

Tradtional, sane, Republicans will vote for SPLOST for property tax relief and responsible handling of debt.

Spencerbots will vote against it just to show their asses and screw the rest of us to advance their personal political aims and ambitions.

Well Jay, once again you show your true colors as a "what's in it for me" handout citizen.

You should know that SPLOST projects create more property tax. Surely you're not stupid enough to think that all of these wonderful projects built whith SPLOST are magically maintenence free. How do they get taken care of?

Well by property taxes of course.

So keep building goverment annexes, and staffing them with goverment employees. And watch the millage rate go up, and up and up.

We got a 2.5 million dollar EMA building out of SPLOST 5. We also got a $80k year director,$35k year assistant,$50k truck, upkeep on said truck, who knows how much in outfitting said building.

And it was all free right?

WRONG again tubby.

All paid for by me and other property owning citizens.

So keep your SPLOST welfare and I'll keep my property taxes low.

And dont give me that BS about St Marys. You guys made your bed, so sleep in it. Don't put that burden on me.

"Why would a homeowner vote AGAINST his own interests by voting against SPLOST?"

Because it's a corrupt cowards Tax. From funding the "THING" in the park to pouring millions into special interest projects without having to come in front of the people with a mill rate increase.

In fact the only reason for passing Splost 7 is an attempt to recover from incompetent speculating city councils who screwed the tax payers while being in bed with the real estate cartel.

The only problem is 60% is scheduled to go for the water/sewer debt. If history has taught us a lesson we will be lucky to see 20% by days end.

You're right. Just because a hurricane proffed EMA building was a legitimate ned was no reason not to build it from property tax revenues. I wonder if you can raise the millage rate to pay back the SPLOST money that was spent to build it. Why don't you launch a campaign to retroactively fund ALL capital improvements made with SPLOST with future increased property taxes.

I mean, that would be the Spencerbot/Tea Party ideologically pure thing to do, right? When might we expect you to go public with your righteous campaign?

Jay, you really are a simpleton. I would love to have lunch with you one day and see how a man that claims to have an IQ of yours ( 2 ponts below mine) can have such irrational thoughts. I will let you choose the setting and I will buy the meal. I have a feeling that your delusional thoughts are based upon your captive state in which excursions into the real world are difficult. You then use your idle time reading oped pieces online and are sometimes confusuing them with reality.

But anyways, you choose the venue, and I will buy dinner and we can discuss issues such as SPLOST and property taxes.

Bad government in Kamden Kounty will not be removed untill there is an investigation into the tax assessors office and tax assessors board .

As long as there is unfair and unequal taxation of property in Kamden Kounty, the smell of corruption will remain.

In Jeremy Spencer's last letter to the editor he wrote, "The downtown area is in dire need of infrastructure replacement and repair. The lines are clogged with sediment and need major overhaul. If this is not repaired over the years we can forget attracting anything to downtown."
Through SPLOST VII St. Marys will get approximately $18.5 million. City Council is allocating nearly $11 million for the bond debt service. St. Marys will also receive over $4 million for infrastructure, over $1 million for city facilities and over $2 million for equipment and vehicles.

And yet Jeremy is against SPLOST VII: the only chance of helping the downtown area that he's so very worried about. The boy appears to be a bit confused.

Federal money was spent on the Jail building at Woodbine to make it the EMA headquarters. That building had an area where the cities could meet to make the collective decisions it needed to.
What you paid for in creating this new EMA building was to give the Sheriff's office more space.
