If you want to send the shopping to the base pass the tax. If you want to send more to Florida pass the tax. If you want to see more businesses in St. Marys fail pass the tax.

It is going to fail. No one in the county wants to pay St Marys debt. They made it, let them pay it.

No one is paying St. Marys debt for them. They would get the same amount if the debt was there or not. Failure to pass this SPLOST would be a mistake. It is not a new tax. It is a reauthorization of a current Splost tax. It is not a T-Splost or an E-Splost this is the Splost that is used for roads, parks, replacing equipment, and the basic needs of governments so that property taxes will not be used. Do't pass it an taxes go up on your property. They would have no choice.

It is killing St. Marys now if they keep it will continue to get worse. You know this. 70% of the businesses in St. Marys are now closed want to get up to 90% keep this crap up and watch another round of St. Marys businesses close. Gag limit already hit just drive it down further by any tax.

When City Council passed the $45 Million Dollar bond they stealing of the property begin. Not everyone came from New Jersey where taxes are high. Wages and income for small businesses is very fragile in the best of times being over shadowed by Jacksonville. Take away 800 jobs, raise the taxes and you squeeze out the small shops. It has already happened keep this up and you won't have any business community. It is up to the voters now.

Come on folks. We are spending money to stimulate the local economy. So we must raise fees and property tax to spend. That's the way government works. Most citizens don't understand how the system works and so they complain.

How we spend money really does not matter. Whether on a new survey, a study, stairs for Orange Hall or the Gillman Yacht Club' it is all part of our plan to get this community going again.
Talk to our friends and family members and they will explain it all to you. Relax everything will work out just fine.

Don't forget our marijuana grow houses. They stimulate our economy too. The growers spend money on electric generators, grow lights, and lawyers etc.

Support SPLOST TAX and Marijuana Politics. Yeeeee Haaaaaaa!!!

They have had SPLOST 1-6 and they have found the way to raise our taxes by doing away with homestead they have found a way to raise our water/sewer by 35%. So history proves that if you give a foot they will take a mile.Your taxes are going to go up anyway you look at it.

I sure Coastal Construction will vote for it. Look at the money Doyle has got from it.
282k to repaint Orange Hall
155k to repair steps & porch
183k for thing in park
40k roof on pravilion
36k to repair floating dock
thats 620,000
so for Doyle I'm sure he saying hell yes pass it
All I am saying is pass it watch that 1 percent go up then wait your water, land, and other fees go up also.

Plus what ever else they could put on add ons. The National Park Service should have taken this for their offices rather than the Waterfront where they should have only taken tickets and had bathrooms.

SPLOST was originally created for local governments to fund projects that they would not be able to afford without raising property taxes. So, they created another tax, instead. But over the years, the rules have been bent and now it's projects that would never have been allowed 20 years ago are allowed. Glynn County voters torpedoed a SPLOST referendum in 2011 and somehow they survived. Elected officials realized SPLOST was being used as a slush fund that made them lazy. Instead of planning ahead for upkeep for buildings, equipment and vehicles, they could simply go to the SPLOST account and withdraw the money. Now, they have to budget for cars, roofs, computers and other equipment. Bottom line: it wasn't nearly as bad as SPLOST supporters said it would be. I think it will be difficult to convince voters in this economy to support this tax. Opponents are correct about one fact once you create one of these special taxes, like the failed TSPLOST, it's nearly impossible to get rid of it.

OH!! thats right we needed a new dog park over by the city pool.I just wonder how much that cost?
SPLOST is a slush fund for them to pay off someone and it looks this time Coastal Construction gets the payoff Roger Weaver has to be getting a hell of a kickback from there.

We are not Glynn. You owe us 40 million dollars for that water/sewer plant. If you mess with the passing of Splost 7 I swear we will raise your water fees three fold. Get it!!

Also get used to that threat, you will be hearing it every 5-7 years for the next hundred years!
