Here again are just SOME of the senseless gun shootings and deaths from the last 7 days. This is Part 1.

These killings and shootings go on endlessly. And as more and more guns are sold, guess what? More and more shootings and deaths occur.

There was some good gun safety news & legislation from around the country EXCEPT for Georgia. For some crazy reason our legislators think taking a gun to church, or a bar, or allowing them on college campus is necessary. Are we so frightened here in Georgia we can't leave the home without a gun? I pity those weak people. The country must think we're a real bunch of wimps.

For those who don't know, roughly 300,000 citizens are shot each year and 100,000 of those die from their wounds. Per the FBI, about 230,000 guns are stolen each year. Guess where they end up?

Remember to support politicians that vow to strengthen our nation's gun safety laws. Don't listen to Republicans and the NRA, more guns is NEVER the answer. This madness must stop. The time to start is now. Help out, get involved!

Mesquite, Tex.-- Four family members were found fatally shot in an apparent murder-suicide.

Oceanside, Calif.-- A 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were shot and killed and two other teenagers were shot and wounded at a park.

Nashville, Tenn.-- When a 29-year-old man pulled out a gun on his 31-year-old estranged wife, the woman wrestled away the gun and fatally shot him in the back.

Boley, Okla.-- A 54-year-old man and his 53-year-old wife were found dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Clark, Wyo.-- A 19-year-old man was shot in the abdomen by a friend who was cleaning a handgun.

Minneapolis, Minn.-- Two men were shot and wounded when someone in a passing car open fire on about 30 people gathered on a sidewalk for a memorial.

Sheldon, Wash.-- A 46-year-old state trooper was accidentally shot in the leg during a training exercise.

Des Moines, Iowa -- An elementary school student walking home found a loaded gun in the snow.

South Strabane Township, Penn.-- A husband was shot twice by his 26-year-old wife, once while inside their apartment and once while outside the building.

Chicago, Ill.-- A 6-month-old girl died this morning from wounds suffered when she and her 29-year-old father were shot as he stood outside the open door of a minivan.

Pulaski County, Ky.-- A 19-year old male at home picked up a shotgun and it accidentally discharged, killing his 24-year-old brother who was asleep in the room. The distraught and grief-stricken younger brother then shot and killed himself.

Bradenton, Fla.-- A 3-year-old boy accidentally shot himself in the knee outside his home.

Santa Maria, Calif.-- Someone was shot in the chest yesterday when they were cleaning a handgun.

Jacksonville, Fla.-- A 20-year-old man was playing with a gun at a home late this morning when he accidentally shot himself.

Dayton, Ohio -- A 22-year-old man was shot in the neck in what police described as a domestic dispute.

Springdale, Ark.-- A man suffered a gunshot wound to his leg while at a home.

San Diego, Calif.-- When a roommate became involved in the argument between a husband and wife, the husband proceeded to beat up the roommate and then fired a shot at him.

Miami, Fla.-- A man in a wheelchair had a disagreement with a waitress on where to sit, so he grabbed a pistol from under his shirt and waived it around before firing two shot in the air. One of the bullets when through the ceiling and into a second floor office. No one was hurt.

One of the posters many points is that there are too many guns out there in homes and communities. This fairly well proves the point (i.e., more guns = more shootings and deaths). Open your eyes and ears, America has a serious gun problem.

America does NOT have a gun problem it has a people problem. Guns are tools and can kill when handled by idiots, nut cakes etc. They DO NOT kill on their own!

See the story below. When everyone has a gun, this is how things will go in America. Do we really want this? I don't think so. We need much better gun laws and less damn guns! This is crazy.

If your theory is true, then the town of Kennesaw would have many gun deaths. You are wrong.

Ya say we got a people problem? Fact is, we can't kick people out of the country for being dumb. If we could, we'd have no Republicans left. So we just have to start fixing this gun problem with sensible laws that limits the amount of guns your idiots, net cakes, etc., can get their hands on.

I'm guessing your a Republican/Teapublican because you only tell half-truths, partial truths and/or lies.

The Kennesaw law passed in 1982 is a farce and the article says so, just you don't say so.

Here is a couple quotes and facts from the article you skipped over: "Added Lt. Graydon, "It was not meant to be an enforceable law. The police department has never searched homes to make sure you had a gun. It was meant more or less as a political statement to support citizens' second amendment rights to own firearms." "Homeowners in Kennesaw who don't buy a gun are not punished. In fact, there are several exemptions, including religious objections, if someone is a convicted felon, has a mental illness or simply can't afford a weapon."

True, Kennesaw has a lower than average crime rate, but no data to indicate it's related to their gun law. St. Marys also has a lower than national average too, and we don't have crazy gun laws.

When you can start telling the truth, you're welcome in the Democratic Party.

Anyone see the one about the police officer in Albuquerque being shot when responding to a domestic disturbance call? It was Saturday or Sunday past. That's like the crazy guy in the wheelchair not liking were the waitress sat him and popped off two shots. I guess the new was to settle a domestic disturbance (i.e., fight with the spouse) will be to pop off a couple rounds. That should silence the room. Oh yea, we've definitely reached the gun crazy level.

What I don't really get is why you think having laws that limit firearms from certain people will change anything. The last time I looked, drugs and murder are all sorts of illegal but it still happens. The laws that need to be passed should be tougher punishments for those that break the law and not laws for those who follow them. Because lets be honest, criminals don't follow laws. DUH!!!!!

That is why I posted a link so I did not have to explain every single thing associated with it. Very coincidental that crime dropped right after it though. Even though there is no data for absolute proof, anyone can make a very educated guess to why.

Another thing I would like to add. Putting restrictions on the second amendment (like what kind of guns you can buy) is like putting restrictions on the first. What is next? The government is going to ban books, magazines, and certain movies because someone got an idea from them in order to kill a lot of people?

So you're in the camp that says the 2nd Amendment comes with no limitations or strings. You should be able to own any weapon whatsoever with no restrictions. Is that correct? If not, what is. Thanks.

For any type of rifle, handgun and shotgun yes. Of course, you do lose rights if you are a convicted felon and/or mentally not right even with current laws. The right to bear arms should not be excluded in those situations.

That's a stunning statement with use of the word "any." I hope you do not get your way. Weapons of war have no use in society. Nor do many types of ammo (i.e., semi-explosive rounds, armor-piercing rounds, etc.).

BTW, at least one member of the Supreme Court disagrees with you saying the 2nd has limitations.

The majority of Americans will/are disappointed we apparently won't be reinstating the assault weapons ban this year. Our no-balls Republican (and 5 Dems) congress-critters chickened out. I predict any mass shooting or two will do the trick.

In case you didnt know, if you get a federal tax stamp or an FFL license, you can buy fully automatic weapons today. The other thing is that the market is flooded with armor-piercing rounds (I actually have some myself and bought it really cheap). With a federal tax stamp, and can go out and buy grenade for a grenade launcher that can attach to my AR15. I believe it is already my way.
