What is going on with all the military renters messing up the peace and tranquility out there? Is there no screening process for renters? Last summer I saw many Navy wives at the pool with the most tasteless tatoos. The sailors are walking about with no shirts on the street..How can the mayor and the people who retired here have any peace??The fence and gate is to keep trash out not in!

Last summer we had to enact new rules to limit the number of guests "residents" could bring to the socials. The Friday cocktail hours at the waterfront cabana and the clubhouse were especially troublesome. The renters were saturating the parties with their unsavory friends and we had several near, shall I say, confrontations with the owners.

The renters are a notch or two down from the real Covies on the social ladder. And yes, the tattoos are an awful reminder of that.

It is a shame that they have to lay their lives on the line for you.

It speaks well of them that they love their country so much.

To paraphrase Winston Churchill, you sleep soundly in your beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm.

Osprey is what anybody of reasonable class calls "low rent rich people" they think they are "high" rent" but most are low rent. Nothing more than a bunch of druck golf cart drivers. Same as Downtiwn St. Marys. The only diffenence is the if the Base wasn't here -this silly little town would blow away.

Doubtful, the town was here way before the Navy arrived.

The real estate cartel has raped the residents by promoting navy renters and even buying at low prices the homes they orriginally sold at high prices so they can rent them to white trash.

The owners out there should revolt!!

The mayor may have to restore order. The Cove may turn into Cumberland Oaks!

You Kings Bay bubble heads need to get over yourself and quit comparing yourselves to Marines and Soldiers. All of this "laying your lives on the line" and "being rough men", give me a freakin break. First of all the majority of Kings Bay sailors ride around in an underwater dormitory or a tender ship hundreds of miles away from any combat zone. The closest most of these "rough men" have come to combat is a bar fight at the Island Lounge. And a lot of these "rough men" probably dont have a damn callous on their hands. I seriously doubt, that Winston Churchill was referring to the kind of people that make up the majority of the modern Navy. When he stated that it was during The Greatest Generation, not the "Hey Everyone Worship and Appreciate Me Generation." If you dont like what Im saying here's the cure, drink some more tax free beer and go watch Act of Valor and revert to the fantasy land in which your some kind of commando. Quit acting like your not compensated for the work that you CHOSE!

Sure, the town was here, but it had a papermill. If the Navy leaves, we will not be able to afford our homes, most businesses will shut down. Show some appreciation for what the military has done for us economically.

Guess the truth stings, your monicker is appropriate. You obviously can't dispute the truth so its easier for a simpleton such as yourself to call names.

I was a Surface Warfare Officer turned Naval Intelligence Officer. At one time or another I have been on everything from Bird Farms to Boomer Boats. There are plenty of ways to get killed or maimed during peacetime. The guys manning the FBMSs are at the top of the enemy's targeting list if the balloon goes up. I have briefed SEALs, fighter jocks, four stripers, and four stars. I have worked with Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard members, and officers from Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. I couldn't do what they did and they couldn't do what I did. We were all on the same team that you are so free and ready to mock.

I don't drink but I would much rather buy the roughest and most uncouth man among them a case of beer than offer you the time of day.

I will refer you to Rudyard Kipling's, "Tommy".

The submariners give up three months of their life every time they go on patrol. You have no appreciation for what they do to protect our freedom or at least to protect our country (I'm not so sure about the freedom any more). Never-the-less, they are keeping us safe.

I also am amazed at how ungrateful you are.

The US Military isnt even in the top ten list of dangerous jobs. So even if there was a top 50 list the NAVY wouldnt make that. Long haul truck drivers spend months away from home to deliver food and commodities to us. They risk their lives by traveling on the highways to meet our needs. Maybe we should bow down and worship them like the military. People are sick being told how appreciative we should be. You signed up, you've been paid, you've recieved very good benefits. I guess thats not good enough? Nobody drafted you, do your job and STFU.

What has happened to Osprey is that they house the Sith Lords of our community.

Housing the Sith Lords of Camden has happened to Osprey. Their uppityness has turned them to the dark side. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will.

Osprey must unlearn what is has learned about the dark-side. Falling apart it is due to their specialization of the dark-side. Falling apart is their destiny.

Yes long haul truckers spend time away from their families. That may be but when the country is attacked it is those fine young men and women that will be doing the dieing. The only reason they even have to do that is because the old farts like me aren't allowed to anymore.

If it ever gets bad enough for me to get called back, we're already in a world of hurt.

Quit bitching about people doing a dangerous and necessary job you aren't willing to do.

It was here before the base, it was here before the mill, it was here before the civil war, it was here before the yellow fever epidemic, it was here before the war of 1812, it was here before the revolutionary war, it was here before the spanish came, it was here as a trading area for the indians, and it will be here after the base is gone. And if we did not have sand gnats we would be even deeper with yankee's than we already are. Thank God for the sand gnat. I hear DeLoughy is not running again. Guess the 158% increase yet to come is to much for DeLoughy ?
